Art Hostel is possibly one of the best in Europe. The vibe is fantastic with something happening downstairs in the bar every night of the week. There's always friendly locals hanging out who are happy to chat. I would recommend coming to Bulgaria just to stay at Art Hostel.

Amazing people and an incredible place... a mixing of cultures, experiences, feelings. Quite a dream of experience.

My only real concern was the loud music coming from the bar downstairs till 3 in the morning, sometimes later. The noise wasn't a problem if you lived in the building behind the garden, but for those living right near the front desk... it was really difficult to fall asleep and get good rest.

This is a really nice hostel and my private room was very spacious. The bar downstairs was a great place to hang out with some good music. I was there in November, so the place was pretty quiet for a lone traveller. I'm sure it would be a great place to meet others in the summer. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the whole place was really relaxed. My only complaint (again because of the time of year) was the rooms were a bit cold. I would definitely go back here if I was in Sofia again.

Characterful old building in interesting area with plenty of shops, cafes... Bar packed each evening, mainly with locals - not sure quite why - it's a good bar but there are plenty of others around. The staff were always friendly and helpful. I found it odd that they had no spare key when I got locked out of the floor we were staying on. Fortunately there was a spare dorm bed. Lots of TV channels (including hard porn surprisingly). Appealing garden. Fantastic hostel in a great city.

Loved this place...... the name speaks for itself. Art all over the walls where ever you look. Great garden out the back and a really easy place to meet locals. Huge bar in the basement which is just as good as the garden to chill out.. Brought a 'Nasimo' art piece straight off the wall... awesome. One of the best hostels i have ever stayed at!! Perfect location, totally central on the south side.... which is the best part of town. Good times drinking beers with you Boris!

It's a cool looking place with a nice atmosphere. But it was very quiet - not the hostel's fault - so it wasn't as fun as it could have been. No clean dishes when I wanted to eat breakfast.

Lovely hostel but one of the staff members was absolutely terrible. Made us wait to finish his cigarette before checking in and then forgot all about us. 10 mins later he started checking in someone else, which took 10 minutes. Then when I rang the bell to call him back, he was like "what do you want?". Then they had no record of us paying. Sort out the staff member and this place could be great. Apart from this, we loved the hostel. An oasis of green after a day in the city.

Really loved the hostel. We had a private double which was really nice and cosy. Great wet room shower. The bar is really cool. Lots of buzz so we have a great night.

I really liked this hostel, very cool bar downstairs and it is in a great location, shame I was there such a short time. The staff could be a lot more friendly though, when I came to check in it seemed like it was the biggest hassle on earth for the guy on reception to check me in and speak to me. When I asked him questions he just shrugged and didn't really want to help. a smile would be nice. I loved the cartoon city maps that they have there though!
