It's a great place with excellent atmosphere and beautiful grounds. I think the shuttle that goes every 5 minutes is really handy and it's nice to have workshops and activities going on all the time. I liked that you provided an area for campers (including very long term guests!). A few small suggestions - the cube rooms have big gaps under the door so lots of mosquitos get through - could possibly improve that, and also the MC for the open mic night was awful.

I love it! Everything is so relaxed and there is a very warm and friendly atmosphere. The Cafe Bar offers excellent food and coffee and rhe dorms are very big.

Had a fantastic time at the Arts factory lodge. The place radiates the laid back vibe of Byron Bay and attracts a special kind of person, met heaps of great people at the lodge. During my stay I found that everything I needed was on hand, there was no reason to leave the hostel, you could enjoy your stay with out venturing past the front gate. They Byron Bay brewery is oposite the hostel, the beer is fantastic, food is wholesome and the staff friendly and attentive.

loved that they had a free shuttle bus running to and from town. This bus ran every 10mins after 10pm until 4am! PERFECT for those drunk nights. although if your after a quiet nights sleep, this probably isnt for you. You could hear everything from the pub next door on open mic night. but overall id stay here again and also reccomend for a few nights stay.

The Arts Factory is so much more than just a hostel. I booked in for a night and am now contemplating moving in permanently! Surrounded by nature, the village has water dragons and bush turkeys wandering around everywhere. Live performances take place most evenings so you can sit out with a bottle of wine, or you can choose to hang out in next door's brewery which also hosts live music and a range of unique beers. And if that wasn't enough, the shuttle bus runs every 5 minutes from 10pm-4am.

When you are in Byron you definetly don't want to miss the arts factory, it is hard to discribe and you must have been there before you believe it, but this place is so laidback, relaxed and you really feel you're in the bush instead of 10 minutes from the beach. Great atmosphere, greater surroundings and lots of activities that are all worthwile doing them. Defintely the best hostel I stayed so far

Was cool that we were surrounded by water dragons when we had breakfast :) But as it had rained for a few days the hostel was full of mosquitoes and we were eaten alive, in our room and the shower room. We stayed in the girls 4 bed dorm, which had a fridge but no fan. Also there was no lockers in the rooms, only tiny ones down by the pool for a couple of bucks per day or bigger electronic ones near the front desk for 3 bucks per 12 hrs.

A really hippy hostel, but full of character. Good experiences: Staff were lovely, loved the water dragons running round, great place to chill out, Bad points: I went out on my first night and came back at 2am and someone was asleep in my bed, after moving my stuff off it. The room was double booked, but the staff were great in helping sort it out. not the cleanest hostel and the kitchen was always too busy, also it was far from town but the shuttle made up for that.

Unless your a bit of a hippy and into your drugs, I would avoid this place. It's mozzy infested (I have never experienced anything like it!), the bathrooms are disgusting (and if you book a 10 bed dorm be prepared to walk to the other side of the site to use them), and it's a 15 min walk into town and the shuttle bus isn't as regular as they say. There are cheaper and nicer hostels in the centre of town, I would book nomads instead.

Everything about the place was great except for a frizzy hair receptionist that made me check out between two bookings. Even thou my two bookings were over two days, i had to check out, wait 4 hours, then check in again. She even yelled at another staff member for using insect repentant near here whilst trying to serve us.
