I loved it! The Arts Factory is a unique place with a very laid back vibe. The hostel can give you whatever experience you want: meeting cool people, enjoy music and drinks at the Buddha bar, the cinema, participate in all the fun activities this fab hostel runs, grab a coffee or dinner on site, relax at the big pool or have an early night (as I did before I went scubadiving). It's all possible - I seriously recommend this place, best time I had while staying in Australia!

It's a good hostel, but not the 'state-of-the-art' that some people said after recommending it to me. A bit too alternative for me I guess. One thing that happened to me on this hostel a few times is food disappearing from the kitchen. I guess this is one of the problems when there's so many people, food just gets stolen by the not-so-civilised guests. In any case, it was a good place.

Great facilities, very clean, and very cool location. As a solo traveller, I'd prefer a smaller hostel but it was a nice place to stay.

I found there were two groups of people, the ones who go out every day en the ones who do nothing and smoke weed an are being hippies. I was neither of them and did not like it. Too little bathrooms for the amount of people, small rooms en both rooms and bathrooms are not clean. Kitchen was ridiculus, small and always out of stuff. Have to make deposits for pans and drinking cups. Heaps of muscitous as well and shuttle bus was bad and skipped rides. Only good thing was the swimming pool.

Nice hostel but a little pricey. $50 per night is a lot to pay outside the big cities, although facilities were very good. Could maybe look into changing bathroom cleaning times from when most people seem to want to use them!!

Would have expected something a little more funky from a hostel called arts factory. Had the ambience of a public toilet block. Very noisy acoustics

I absolutely LOVED this hostel. The atmosphere was amazing and there was always some sort of live music going on. Try and be there for the talent show on Monday! The location is really not a problem - the walk is under 10 mins and is rather pleasant and at night they run a shuttle every 10 mins! Only thing, don't stay in the ladies dorm! -because its near the lake there are several cockroaches! the rest of dorms are very clean though!

I loved the place, for me the best hostel I have ever been, the atmosphere is great from the first minute you get into the shuttle van that takes you to the place. The place is really clean and they have pool, and a bar next to the hostel where the beer is wonderful and not very expensive (I am spanish and everything is expensive for me in Australia hehe). The place to be in Byron!

Not to my liking. This place was so big and so full. It was a pretty good example of an 18-30's holiday. Difficult to relax, there was always so much going on, noisy and the kitchen was a mess. Internet access was expensive and if you bought time of the net you still had to pay additional for wifi which at $8 a day is grotesque in my mind. You also had to rent a mug if you wanted tea or coffee which is ludicrous. The location was good but I found it stressful and not much fun.

I think Arts Factory Lodges popularity may have spoilt it a bit. Overall I enjoyed my stay here but it is VERY expensive what it is. The internet is overpriced and we had to pay to store our bags just for a couple of hours. The girl driving the mini bus into town is one of the rudest people I have met at what appears to be a nice friendly hostel. I couldnt order food from the canteen for 40mins because they were changing shifts. It is good to meet other people though and the yoga was great!!

This was the best place I have stayed in Australia. If you want an experience from your hostel, you will find that here. The people were all friendly and welcoming and it is an easy walk to town. The best hostel experience I have had so far in Australia.

in all my years of backpacking I'm super surprised to find one of the best hostels in my own backyard. The staff hands down rocked and were helpful when I got drunk and lost my room key umm twice! facilities were good and the room was comfortable and the Budha bar serves some great beer, the atnosphere is really chilled and a 10 minute walk into the insanity of Byron- recomend it to anyone!
