Sometimes the handling by staff was a little chaotic but everyone was friendly all the time and tried to help out.

Hostel has great character - loved the cafe and bar where a lot of people hung out. Cheap drinks and great food for a hostel. It's in a nice part of town a little out of the city centre - about a 10 minute walk to Long street. Lots of good restaurants close by too and a travel centre in the reception area where you can book tours in and out of town.

Good hostel, stayed in single ensuite and quality was similar to hotel. Most staff were really helpful, others were just doing the job, no smiles etc. Walking distance to city center. Stayed in the houses on another street from main building and was a bit nervous about security there...but nothing happened. Had to walk all the way to main building to make a phone call which was a pain

stayed there many times, but price is going up, while quality is unfortunately deteriorating, especially cleanliness, toilets/showers were most of the time dirty

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our six day stay at Ashanti Lodge Gardens. Our room was very attractive and clean. I never expected hardwood floors, a twelve foot sculpted plaster ceiling, fireplace and king wrought iron bed in a hostel. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.

You do have a lovely place and all was nice. Except that during our 5 nights there we could hardly sleep. There is a nice sign asking people not to make noise after midnight. But every night between 2 and 5 there was party. Drunk people dive bombing, singing, shouting and all. We asked them to be quiet, but they don't care. Especially since one of them was working at your bar!! Reception staff didn't seem to care about it either

Very helpfull staff, situated in a nice area. A bit noisy because it's often fully booked.

Lots of bathrooms and the showers are clean and spacious. All the rooms were very nice. We stayed in both the main lodge and the guest house. There is really a room here for anything that you need! plus the Friday night braiis are fantastic

Great beds. Good people. The location was great to relax but still have access to the city life. It was unfortunate that people would smoke and drink and rant late night on the balcony out side two of the dorm rooms. It would have been amazing if they were restricted to the bar area.

Having the tourism folks on site was very helpful. The guest house option was exactly what we wanted.

We would not recommend this hostel. The facilties themselves were positive including a very clean kitchen, clean and spacious bathrooms and a pool. The double room was clean, cosy and did not ventilate well (very stuffy with windows open full-time). The staff and atmosphere were perhaps the most disappointing. The hostel appeared to be staffed by heaps of different youth working for their accomodation and as such, didn't seem to really care about new people. Also, food vanished from the fridge.

Not a bad hostel, but next time I would like to try another place. Kitchen was VERY DIRTY - ants and cockroaches. Only 1 hour of free WIFI per day while other hostels provide 24 hr. Shower was good, and I was satisfied with the dorms. Security was good. You can store and lock your backpack under the bed and the valuables in separate electric locker. There are always many people around so if you like talking to travelers it is nice. At night a little noisy, but acceptable.

Good vibe, helpfull staff, clean rooms and very nice facilities. A bit pricey, but it's great value for money. 5-10 minute walk from Long St. where everything is happening, also possible to walk up to Table Mountain and hike to the top if u have some time. Possible to walk from Civic Centre where the airport shuttle drops u off but ur better off getting another bus towards Gardens. Great place to meet people if ur visiting CT alone with a nice and social bar. Had a great experience at Ashanti!
