There was a weird smell in my room and the staff did not assist me in terms of taking me through the facilities. Alos, information regarding check-in was not available on Hostelworld.
Staff were amazingly helpful & the place has an amazing atmosphere. Pretty disappointing though when a guest gets mugged at knife point when he was dropped off directly at the front gate.
I stayed in a private ensuite that was wonderful. The dorms seemed even better, though. Beautiful renovated house with high ceilings and grand rooms. Lovely hostel in a great location - just adjacent to the best parts of Kloof. Great grounds and there's a pool! There's also a cafe/bar upstairs when you. Kitchen could use an update, especially the pots and pans, but I would definitely recommend staying here.

Amazing hostel. Great vibe from Liz at the travel desk the moment we walked in. She also gave us some great recommendations! Great food and cheap drinks upstairs. I came here last minute after bad experiences at another hostel, only had 1 night available, I booked my shark dive, and they went out of their way to call the shark dive place and leave a message for me saying they could extend my stay as something opened up. Great customer service! Will definitely stay here again!
Helpful staff, cool atmosphere, great facilities.
Lovely place to stay and very central.

I Had a Great experience there with All The Staff and the others guests.
Great Hostel! Nice rooftop and pool with a stunning view of Table mountain and Lion's Head.
Good location, awesome hostel! Table Mountain in the background when you have breakfast! Good food facilities, nice atmosphere at night at the bar! Safe to walk around at night. Will go back there!

Cape town has high quality backpackers accross the city.... Ashanti is a good place to stay if in Capetown. Close to everything, organised activities, clean safe and secure...nice
This is one of these hostels that you can't leave. Really awesome staff, good vibe in the bar, swimming pool with an amazing view on Table Mountain. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
such a greedy owner, the cost of internet and prints are more than Europe and the hostel run mainly by volunteers whom have no knowledge about the places for tourists. You have to open 10 kitchens units till you find the things you are looking for and there is no labels on the units. Most hostels with that price will provide breakfast but here milk is not provided either, its a money making business and not much bothered about the tourists.
Stayed here for 6 nights and really loved the hostel and the atmosphere! Staff was nice and helpful´-had a great time and met amazing people! Thank you!
Its a good place , comfortable beds , good location but it should be managed better such as the kitchen area and the fridge which is not big enough for a big hostel. No unity of approach between staff and restricted rules which was not working during my stay
The bathroom wasn’t clean. Too many people using. We found cockroachs in the bathroom 3 times. The staff smokes with the guests everyday (not just tobacco). I just think this is unprofessional. They don’t provide towels No breakfast included It was impossible to keep your things in the fridge. It was a mess and completed full. The stayed in Ashanti Greenpoint and it is much better than Ashanti Gardens. I was expecting the same quality but I got so disappointed
Great hostel! I left to book accommodation in CT so I had to book two hostels. Ashanti Lodge was the second choice...until I arrived here! I won't mention the name of the other Hostel because this is a plug for Ashanti not a knocking others. There is more space, light, atmosphere and facilities here. There is better security with safes and under bed lockers. The staff are friendly, professional and always willing to help. It's a great hostel, with a pool too.
Stayed at Ashanti for 8 nights in December, 2014. Absolutely fantastic staff, great bar, really chill atmosphere. It's quite close to Long Street if you're looking for a night out, but just far enough away to keep the noise down. Thanks guys!
They didn't have our booking when we arrived. Which was annoying as we had booked over a month prior. We ended up having to swap rooms a few times. Location is close to Long St however not ideal that you can't walk back alone or in a small group at night. Kitchen facilities are adequate and there is a bar which you can meet people at before heading out.
Great hostel...beautiful building, friendly helpful staff; massive buffet breakfast; close to downtown Cape Town; all in all A1 & highly recommended for your Cape Town stay
