A very pleasant and peaceful place. A lot of information for tourist and travellers: bus train schedule, trekking path, possible visits, .... excellent welcome from the staff.

Overall your hostel was satisfactory. Room was cozy and your hostel is located in a very quiet place. However, if the payment was made by credit card, that would have been great. Also, I didn't like the questionnaire like, "Where are we going next?" "Where did you visit last time before Aso?" or something like that. I understand you wanted to know for your reference but I thought it was not your business and I did not like this kind of private questions.

The best hostel I've stayed in Japan. We ended up stating for 4 nights as they had great suggestions for walks and day trips in the area. Had great maps for hiking mt aso and a local map with all the good food places. Great location, short walk to the train station. Clean kitchen with everything you need. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Aso Base Backpackers is conveniently situated near Aso train station. It is well furnished and immaculately clean, with a quiet atmosphere. Staff were helpful, making very good suggestion for dinner of local specialities . Also good is the small centre just to the left of the station, apparently a local co-op, stocking local produce, fresh and prepared foods, local craft and a comfortable resting or eating space.

I have never stayed in a Hostel. My son and his girlfriend have stayed in Aso and many other hostels around Asia and encouraged his father and I to try Aso's Backpacker. We did and loved it. I felt safe, welcomed and enjoyed the interactions with the other guests. The shower area was very clean and fully supplied with everything one could need. The opportunity to cook your own food was encouraged and easy!

Wow, wow, wow. Without a doubt the best, prettiest, most atmospheric hostel I have stayed at. Nicer than most hotels I've stayed at too! Gorgeous main kitchen/dining area: I wish I could cut it out and take it home! Decking and chairs for a well-earned beer after a long day hiking. A wonderful place that I'd recommend to anyone!!!
