It was a really nice experience. Very friendly hosts, nice information. Facilities are brand new and very clean. Probably the best guest house I ever was in.

The staff were very helpful and the facilities were modern and superb. I've stayed in other hostels for the same price which were absolutely awful. The hostel was very close to Aso station, so easy and quick to find.

The staff was friendly, everything was clean, the kitchen was great, the location was the best possible. I want to say that first. But frankly, it felt like a hotel, not a hostel. A cheap hotel with shared bathrooms, but a hotel. Our room was right next to the sinks, and it gets loud (what were they thinking with that design??) The shower had a button you had to push ever 11 seconds to get water, and as for character...well, there wasn't any. It was ok, but no atmosphere.

Hostel is clean and has a welcoming atmosphere. I truly enjoyed the common space. Nice lounge/ jazz music, modern and well equipped kitchen and tatami rest area. Only thing I could comment on was the location of the common washbasins and showers. They are located right outside the private rooms. Everyone goes there to shower or wash and brush their teeth so it tends to get nosy at times. Otherwise everyone usually goes to bed early and party people are not tolerated so it's ok.

This is one of those rare backpackers that is not only a great place to stay, but will inspire you with ideas to take back home. Absolutely amazing what they have done (and keep doing) within the limits of space and budget.

The best backpacker I've ever seen. Having to press a button every 10s to keep the water coming in the shower is painful though. Every min would be better. But other than that, it's by far the best backpacker I've been to. Everything is new, well design, a mix of Oriental and Occidental styles. Very well located at 2 min walk from the train station. Staff very friendly.

Amazing hostel - huge comfy bunk beds, a great social area, awesome kitchen with everything you could possibly need, free tea & coffee, very friendly and helpful hosts & a book shelf with some reading books in English as well as Japanese (a rarity in most hostels we've stayed at in Japan). Easily the best facilities of anywhere we've stayed in Japan, wish we could have stayed here longer! Very highly recommended.

Brilliant kitchen! Very thoughtful of them to have a basic stock of herbs & spices, and sell individual onions and eggs. A lovely hostel in every respect. The reason I marked poor for security is that no one is around when the reception is not open 11-4, but the door is open and people's left luggage is not locked up. OK I know this is Japan not Peru, but basically anyone could walk in and walk out with someone else's rucksac.

Pretty excellent hostel, while we were staying one night a Japanese travelling artist held a Japanese cultural show which was an interesting experience. Free sashimi, sake and Japanese snacks were also included, great fun.

A fantastic hostel, one of the best I have ever stayed at. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the hostel itself is well-equipped with a comfy and stylish design. Excellent location and a great atmosphere, this felt more like staying at a high-end mountain lodge.
