Stayed at the west wing.. Had a great stay, haven't really explored Hostel scene in India. But, this one was bowled me over. Positives(+) Atmosphere, Friendly travelers, Staff, Laundry system, Negatives(-) West wing dirty washrooms, shifting rooms despite booking in advance. Overall, a great place to stay, a little secret book the west wing if you want to post party and chill at the swing.

Had a great stay here. It's a very social place to go, and it's worth it 100x over for the people you meet. My only disappointment was the "West Wing" dormitory we were placed in. It smelled pretty mouldy and could definitely use a scrub and a lick of paint.

Really lovely community atmosphere, friendly staff and just a great place to hang out. Only suggestion would be to put nets over the windows of the non-ac rooms, as otherwise you have to choose between a breeze at night and not getting bitten all over...

Great place where to meet other fellow travelers, everyone is super friendly and there is always something going on. The only weird thing I noticed once there is that people get moved around rooms very often (like every night), so if you dont want this hassle make sure you book your nights in advance!

This is probably the only real hostel in all of India. It had all the facilities you need and the atmosphere amongs the guests at the hostel was fantastic. We stayed at the westwing and we didn't find the cleanliness there to be tip top but still okay. The laundry system was very good and the breakfast was alright. I would stay here again, but one negative thing about the hostel is the location to Anjuna beach (Vagator beach isn't that good.) But the people we met made the trip worth it.

I've traveled all over Europe in hostels, and this was my first stay at a hostel in India. I went with fairly low expectations, but Asterix came as a very, very pleasant surprise. The guys who made this did a fantastic job of creating just the perfect atmosphere, and all the facilities were better than I expected them to be. My only suggestion to the owners would be to clean up the bathrooms, since they tend to remain wet and dirty. Otherwise, great job!

The hostel was excellent, the staff amazing and I had a really great time there. Everyone seemed to be happy and it was excellent value for money. The bathrooms were a little dirty sometimes, but, every time Matilda tried to clean my bathroom, someone was using it. If I decided to visit India again, I would only go to Goa and stay at this place!

Astrix is an awesome hostel if you want to meet and party with lots of fun and interesting people, the social area is nice and relaxing, everybody is friendly and willing to hang out and have a good time. At night everyone gets dinner together to kick off the night then there are heaps of cool bars and clubs to go to that staying here gets you a better deal for entry. Staff = lovely+helpful Location = perfect+peaceful Would highly recommend to anyone

We stayed in the tree house private room and there was no locker like we were told which is one reason we chose hostel. Room is incredibly noisy from no seal between roof and walls- we harly slept during the 3 nights there. Friendly place though with nice communal area. Staff not very helpful or friendly.and a mouse fell out of the ceiling and died

Owner Comment (Show)
Thank you for your review and comments! All our dorms have individual lockers. The private rooms, like other hostels around the world, do not have lockers because the room itself can be locked. Being located in the wilderness means encounters with monkeys, peacocks, birds and other animals is not uncommon. It also means, though, that an odd rodent finds it way up on the ceiling; our staff takes care of that if or when they find out. We apologize if you found the staff to not be helpful; some of them are new (as is the hostel) and still learning the ropes. Safe travels!

The best hostel experience i had in India. Other so called Indian hostels may send their staff here to learn what travellers expect from a hostel. The staff is helpful and friendly, good facilities, but above all the hostel has awesome atmosphere. Definitely recommended!

I Had a great time at Asterix! The vibe was great and Jason the owner was really friendly and helpful. They are located very close to several places to eat, drink and shop. About a 10 minute walk to the beach. Perfect place :)

This hostel is definitely one of the best I have ever stayed in - fantastic atmosphere, great breakfast, clean facilities, plenty of room to relax and socialise. My only problem with Asterix was that when you wanted a night off from partying in order to get a good night's sleep, this was difficult considering that the relax/party area had people in it for most of the night being quite loud. This was great when you wanted to party, but not when you didn't.

For me the best part of traveling are the people you meet. And in that category asterix hostel score full points. Its an excellent place to meet people from around the world and befriend them. No that the other aspects are lacking...the staff is very cordial and and friendly...decent breakfast is included the rent....clean rooms with lockers...located among wilderness close to the vagator beach. All in all a very good hostel. I fully recommend it...especially to single travelers.
