Hostelworld says:
Astor Museum Inn is across the street from the British Museum in 'a classy part of town', according to one Hostelworld user. Our reviewers have praised this hostel's 'awesome, very friendly staff' who offer 'excellent service for the value'. We've noticed that this hostel sees a lot of repeat guests who seem to come back because there's 'always something going on' in this 'very chilled out' hostel with a 'relaxed and hippie' atmosphere.
Property Information:
One of the oldest low budget hotels in London, the Museum has been helping weary backpackers and travellers loosen up since 1977!
The location of this hostel makes it one of the best value hostels in London central. Right in front of the British Museum guests can access Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and Leicester Square in just 10 minutes.
A cosy budget hostel split across two buildings near Russell Square, this low cost hotel doesn’t feel much like it.
With a recently renovated kitchen, new reception and revamped lounge. There are dozens of sights located so close to the hostel, and is best hostel to visit as much of London as you can take in! Otherwise stay indoors with your fellow residents and enjoy a good time in the basement.
**Please note: We are a backpacker hostel and therefore cater strictly for the 18 to 35 year old age bracket only. A passport, photo ID or drivers licence is required upon check-in.

Hostelworld Guests Say
The staff were great and very friendly. Of course, I am basically their age, so it was easy to get along with them. As for the location, you are right next to the British Museum, and I found the access to transportation and the main tourist parts of the city to be wonderful. I loved this place!

Never paid more for less as a backpacker (knowing well that "a stay in a hostel is quite different to that experienced when staying in a hotel."): - no table, no chair, but a very dirty (puke?) carpet and mouldy liquid soap in a double room - no hot water in shower (at 8am). - clogged toilets on more than one floor - dirty kitchen
