I had a good experience with this hostel. It was clean, the staff was great. The wifi was generally good, it only really sucked at night time like right before you go to bed typically. The only really big downfall was the was no elevator/lift. We were on the 5th floor and me and my sister had to drag our big bags up and down those tiny stairways. I hate that all the hostels jack the price up major on the weekends, especially for the people that are obviously staying for longer.

Hi there, Thank you to take your time to leave us a review. We are very happy that you had a good experience here. We understand about the stairs but here at Astor we do like to preserve the old heritage of the building and wouldn't want to ruin it with the modern instrument of an elevator! I'm sad to hear that our staff did not offered help with your luggages this for sure is not our usual behaviour. We hope you choose us again in the future, Astor family xx

A good hostel near Kensington Gardens. Breakfast is not free, but only 1 pound. =)

Repeat trip to same hostel and would happily stay here again. Great location. Good hostel even if staying on the top floor requires climbing a lot of stairs!

This hostel was a welcomed relief after a bad stay at another hostel my first night in London. It was in a fantastic location, had a good kitchen area and nice, tight-knit staff. They were good at keeping things clean. The floors were creaky and the outlets were only in one spot in the room, but everything else was great!

It's an average place to stay. The room was not so clean. I expected there was more electrical outlets close to each bed, there was only an electrical extension with some plugs close to someone's bed. The bathroom is old and small. The room was surprisingly hot, maybe that could be good in the winter. Finally, if you are unlucky enough to get a room on the top floor, you have to climb six flights of stairs with your bags. The breakfast and staff were OK.

Really cool hostel, in a great location. Only things id say are the bathrooms could use a decent scrub, staff try there best but the toilets are black inside and there is a musty smell. Also it's all stairs so heavy bags are hard to get up the 6 flights of stairs I had to walk up, would stay here again, staff are friendly and inviting

Really nice location. Short walk to tube or bus stop and nice area to walk around in the park etc. Really friendly staff. Good kitchen facilities. Breakfast is really good and for only £1 that goes to charity! Would definitely stay here if We come back to London. Highly recommend this hostel.

Good hostel. London is really expensive so this place is a good deal for your money. Nice location and clean facilities. It does feel a little impersonal but perhaps I wasn't mingling enough.

Alright hostel, too expensive as any hostel in London is. Staff were nice, unfortunately there's zero atmosphere due to lack of a big common area, and usually it was just the staff (who also live there) hanging out. Clean, but very old. Location close to the tube and Hyde Park, which is very nice.

Helpful & responsive staff. Hostel shows some wear, but staff obviously work hard to keep it clean. Ensuite bathroom was great for showering and dressing, hallway bathrooms great for when you need more privacy from roomates. Comfortable common room and kitchen. Basic breakfast - mostly carbs & sugar, so I wish there was meat and/cheese and fresh fruit. Of course, that said, you're only paying 1pound for it & it goes to charity, so, can't actually complain - it's fair! Great location by 2 trains!

I have some mixed feelings about this hostel. Loved the coziness of the common area and the overall cleanliness of the place - it was nice to come back to after long day of walking. But the room #62 was extremely hot, the vents were noisy and useless in such heat. Also I wish there were more information points for guests - there were some activities that I accidentally witnessed in the kitchen but no signs telling you where and what time they are being held. Otherwise good hostel overall!

The location is excellent - a 2-3 minute walk to a tube station, and about 5-10 minutes to Paddington, London's main train station. If you're planning to take many day trips around England, this is the hostel to stay at. There's also lots of restaurants nearby, and good access to downtown London and nightlife. Staff was very friendly, especially Alyssa, who was nice enough to chat with this lone traveler! Facilities are clean, and it's convenient that sheets/pillows are already on the bed.

Decent hostel. My one complaint would be for the shower curtain. When it makes the entire bathroom smell molded it's time for a new one. Other than that, it was in a couple minutes walking distance from the bus/metro. Last, the staff was super helpful.

My friends and I spent 3 days in this hostel, and we are highly satisfied. The staff and people around are really friendly, rooms (including toilets and shower) are clean, and the general atmosphere is pleasant. Besides, the location is nice (supermarkets, take aways and tube stations are handy), and for an additional pound you have breakfast!

Location very handy, staff exceedingly helpful and genuinely nice! Beds and other facilities quite standard, everything seems clean though, and all in all, the place has a welcoming and social atmosphere - not just for people crashing the night. All those narrow corridors and staircases are an authentically British experience for the visitor ;)

Place had the best atmosphere but the rooms were really cramped and there was barely any place to put your bags and walk around.

My first time to London and this hostel is great and value for money. Just few minutes walk to tube. It's clean and neat although a little bit crowded. Staffs in the hostel are really helpful. It was a pleasant experience at this hostel.
