I was a bit worried because it looked like a party hostel and I'm not really into that (I chose it because it was a good price), but it was totally fine. In fact, the legionary Mad Monday was the quietest night because everyone was out partying. And the staff were great.

We had a good time at asylum! Friendly staff and good value for your money...

Me and my friends loved this place! The facilities are not too new, not too clean, but it doesn't matter. The important thing is how the place and the people make you feel, and this was awesome! It's very chill and relaxed, close enough to the centre and the staff is amazing! I highly recommend it!

Staff here are the friendliest I've experienced when travelling the east coast but the hostel was just filthy! Bugs everywhere including in the bathrooms our room and in our beds!! My girlfriend told one member of staff about this to which his reply was "you girls and your irrational fears"! No matter how much you pay in a hostel you expect the basics, one of which is to have somewhat of a clean living environment.

Good Hostel! The Staff is really friendly and helps you with all your needs and problems you have. They remember your name since first time you checked in, no idea how they are doing it!

Lovely place, but the bed stand was about breaking and needed to be repaired. The dorm rooms were nice and comfortable. Good kitchen and the cleaners always kept it clean. Bathrooms in many blocks and liked it. nice swiming pool and ofcourse the location to the city was close enough . Liked the Monday Mad night and everyone were nice and friendly- inclusive of backpackers and the owners. Would like to go back there whenever I hit Cairns again. Cheers.

Had a great stay, I was there for 10 days and was made to feel very at included. I had a lot of fun here!

Asylum in Cairns is probably the best backpacker hostel I have ever been because of it´s awesome staff. They make it to feel like home.There is always something happening in the hostel and it´s never boring. Thanks guys!

Best place I've ever stayed at in Australia! The friendliest staff you can imagine, they make you feel like you're a part of the family! Fun things going on almost every day/night! Great areas for hanging out with other guests! If I return to Cairns, I will definitely stay here again!

Asylum was probably the best social hostel I have stayed in. After check-in, the staff remembered my name for my entire stay. They definitely know how to have fun and it's definitely a good place for solo travelers to meet tons of new people!

We stayed at Asylum for over a week and we loved it. The staff is so friendly and always helpful. The kitchen is great for making meals, and the atmosphere is amazing. Everyone talks everyone and the staff even knows your name, and always called us by our name. I would definitely recommend this hostel if you're in for a good time with great people!

Asylum is a pretty average hostel in terms of size of rooms, beds and services. But what makes it stand out from all the rest is the amazing staff and awesome atmosphere. There is always people out front willing to socialize over some drinks, and the staff make a point to learn your name. Plus 4 or 5 nights a week they have nights where the staff take everyone out to bars where you get drink specials. And I'd say Mad Monday alone would be a reason to stay here. It was crazy!

My friend and I had an amazing time in Cairns. If you like to relax during the day and make party in the night, then you right in the Asylum! Awesome staff members, really friendly, young and handsome! The rooms are okay, if you turn on the fan or the airconditioner it is not too hot. The restrooms could be cleaner but its standable.

Asylum Cairns is awesome value for a very small amount of money. Through the Asylum you can get cheap trips, cheap food, cheap party on monday and an awesome stay. You easily meet nice people, and the atmosphere is influenced by young and travel-motivated people. Such a familiar feeling is not common for hostels. Just to give an example: even all the staff knows your name, being lonely or bored seems to be impossible.

Yo,never seen a hostel like this before. I was surprised how friendly and relaxed everyone here is. Actually it looks like its run by backpackers-the good sort. If you want to chill out this is the right place. Lazy people you can be happy:the location is just a5min walk to the inner city, just a bit further the lagoon.You got a kitchen, a pool, a crazy watchdog, air con,every night a free meal( go for the chilli), the Mad Monday of course, cheap wi-fi, yeah feel free to book now, its awesesome

Great hostel, friendliest place we've stayed in Australia. Back for our second stay, the staff even remembered us. Would defo stay here every time we came to Cairns.
