It is the best hostel I had so far in Australia. Because it's a small hostel, the guys who work there really now you, and quite often they also know you buy the name :) The kitchen was clean, so really nice to cook in. The outside place at the back, perfect for everybody to hang around. But also good that they close it before 10pm because of the noise. This hostel is at a perfect location. Near by the train-station, bar & supermarket. Thanks again for the good stay!!!!

You get what you pay for as far as facilities and cleanliness go, but location is great and staff are friendly and helpful. Friday night BBQ was fantastic. For a last minute trip on the cheap with a room to myself, there was nothing else even close to this price.

Excellent location, right by King's Cross. It's close to supermarket, ATM's, bars, liquor shop and restaurants. The atmosphere is really good. Staff is really nice and it'll help you around with anything that you need. The open-air space behind the kitchen is awesome to meet people and normally is full, particularly in barbecue nights (good food!) . The bathrooms are ok and the TV room is good to relax (I advice the blue magic couch :P). If I came back to town I will definitely came back!

After ticking 99% of the review with "excellent" there is actually not much more to add, is there? All I can say is that I felt very much at home during my ten days in sydney, the asylum is a place i looked forward to come back to after a long day out exploring the concrete jungle. Especially when "chefie" fired up the barbeque and managed to silence the whole table - everyone was too busy savouring his sumptuous feasts. Instead of hairs in the bathrooms, you find a lot of heart in this place.

the location is excellent, the staff also, but cleanliness is very poor, there are cockroaches everywhere, the kitchen and all the pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, everything is dirty, the only thing clean are the sheets

This was my first hostel after travelling alone. I would definitely stay here again. Staff very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is great, they have bbqs which gets u meeting loads of people. Was originally only staying for 6 nights but added another three. Loved it here.

Best hostel I have been to hands down. Smaller so its easier to make friends quickly. Staff are so approachable and kind, always willing to show you around the hostel or help you with directions around the city. After leaving asylum I felt home sick for it. Traveling Australia I recommend this hostel to everyone and make other who don't stay here regret that decision.

I've been travelling for 5 month and this is one of the best hostels I've stayed in so far. It's located directly at Kings X where all the fun is at and it got a irish pub with a nice flair next to it. If you want to go for a run you can just run down the street and you are at the peer, good area. The special thing about this hostel is the atmosphere and the social part. It has never been so easy to socialize because everybody is just friendly and nice. I really miss this place since i moved on!

This is a hostel for partiers. Staff are really friendly but other guests have been staying here a long time and can be sort of cliquey. Bathrooms are fine and the location is in the middle of King's Cross, full of nightclubs.

I absolutely Love this hostel. The location and the people. I was meant to stay for 1 day and nearly a month later im still here. The staff are friendly and really go the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy!!! ROOM 33 IS THROUGH BEST ROOM IN THE HOSTEL AND I HAVE THE BEST ROOM MATES!!! I would recommend anyone to stay here especially if they enjoy meeting great people and socializing. Lots of Love Joanne G.
