AWFUL! Owner/Receptionist was not wearing shirt+shoes entire visit! Room untouched/uncleaned since last guests. Chip packed, used toiletries and even PUBIC HAIR was left from last visit. Bedding not properly supplied with too few sheets simply thrown on end of bed. When questioned response was, "I didn't expect you to be doing much sleeping" and claimed to not have enough time to clean. was told $45 deposit given on booking was web fee! Were taken advantage of as young customers-NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Friendly staff, although the guy in the reception acted stoned most of the time, so you didn't know if he was even listening to you. nice people staying there and the place has a lot of personality, most of the people however. Some oddballs. the free breakfast is a joke. Also, a bit dirty, even according to hostel standards. Location however is great, close to both the supermarket and the subway. When you pay here you pay for the location, that's it.

staff were very friendly and helpful!! Great location, 10 min to walk into city. Near train station, supermarket and lots of cheap eating places. Loved our stay!!

Very good location, and despite the facts that the staff tries hard to be friendly, it cannot compensate the fact that the hostel is dirty, unclean... They pretend to have the cleanest bathrooms but the one in the room hasn't been clean during my stay. Don't even talk about the carpets, I guess the hoover was out of order... Kitchen is too small and not very clean either. Go there if you don't have the choice, otherwise...

I was really satisfied with the hostel and with my room. Staff was really friendly, shops and restaurants are very close and the centre of Sydney can be reached easily on foot. The room I lived in (I had a single room with a double bed) was being painted after my departure and it looked really nice (I had seen it shortly before I departed)

people there are nice and friendly. But I don't think it is clear enough, the carpet and the blankets are not clear .And people there talk aloud at night and they have parties very often so most of the time it is noisy there. If you want to meet people and talk with them and enjoy parties ,you may like there.for me, I never want to reture there again.

I was initially booked into Asylum for 2 nights, but because of the wonderful time I was having I booked to stay for another week! The whole atmosphere is like one big family and everyone is welcoming! The rooms are cleaned most days and although the hostel need a little TLC its a great place for any backpacker looking to stay in Kings Cross.

A nice place. I stayed in a private room and that had a beautiful view and was spacious. No complaints overall. Might use with cleaning of rooms and renovation in one of the bathrooms though.

This is really a place with character. I do think the showers and toilets are the cleanest of all of Sydney. I also liked the kitchen, always clean. The staff is very nice and they are always willing to help you. I think you can make friends here, because it's a small place and that is very lovely. When in Sydney, just go here. Great price, great location, great people, very clean! :-)

This is a really nice hostel, it is right next to Kings Cross, which is an excellent district to party, but it is really not that noisy... The atmosphere really familial and you will spend a good time there, especially when you can ignore the rather run-down environment!

I really enjoy this backpacker. The staff is really cool, i have a lot of fun here, if you are lucky, you can have of all the city, and the harbour bridge. Nothing bad.

Smelly and messy reception. First glance at the dorm (after staff checked it) was a total mess - grotty, rotting fruit on the fridge, a bed with booze bottles and plastic bags around it, filthy carpet with food bits all over - longstay guests. Nearly walked straight out but they promised it would be cleaned and it sort of was. We didn't feel comfortable sleeping there. Reception closes at 10pm, we knocked at 9.50 - no answer, then saw owner inside & he shouted at us to go away. Terrible hostel.
