This is a hostel for partiers. Staff are really friendly but other guests have been staying here a long time and can be sort of cliquey. Bathrooms are fine and the location is in the middle of King's Cross, full of nightclubs.

I absolutely Love this hostel. The location and the people. I was meant to stay for 1 day and nearly a month later im still here. The staff are friendly and really go the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy!!! ROOM 33 IS THROUGH BEST ROOM IN THE HOSTEL AND I HAVE THE BEST ROOM MATES!!! I would recommend anyone to stay here especially if they enjoy meeting great people and socializing. Lots of Love Joanne G.

By far the best hostel I've ever stayed at. Friendly staff, clean rooms and good atmosphere. The bathrooms always clean!!! I highly recommend it to everyone.

Run down. When it rains, you can't eat somewhere, because there is no room or table to eat. The kitchen is too small to cook. Well, typical Sydney hostel.

Great little hostel, the staff and guests are all lovely - nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The only thing I would say is that as a single female traveller walking back through the Kings Cross area at night on your own isn't the nicest, so just think about your location when choosing your hostel. Bathrooms and kitchens were kept super clean but bedrooms not some much, but I guess thats up to those staying in it. No lockers to lock your stuff in but didn't feel like it was necessary.

I loved the atmosphere and the character of the Asylum, I felt right at home and had everything I needed. The staff was very helpful, the room was good and I even had it all to myself the first night which was great.

Very friendly and helpful staff, top location (but remember Kings Cross is the red light district), easy to meet people. Tiny cons are no lockers and the small kitchen.

Great place to stay for couple of days or longer if you enjoy the city. The location is great for partying at King's Cross and quite at the same time. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Will stay there again when in Sydney. Cheers!

This place has a good atmosphere and is located in a nice area. It has a good common room with a tv and lots of DVDs but i would not stay here again. The owner charges you $5 to stay in the hostel in the last day and wait for your bus. He justifies this by saying you have to 'pay to use the facilities'. We have never had to pay to stay in the hostel on the last day. He handled it badly and we found him arrogant. The rest of the staff are very nice though. The hostel is overall dirty and grubby.

Good location. Hostel is old tho - you would be better off at Bounce.

Kings cross is definitely a party area so it can be noisy. And the hostel is in the same spirit. The kitchen was not really clean. It was really hot in the dorm. Two computers with internet are available downstairs but it's always busy and very slow if you want the wifi you have to pay 3 dollars each day ... Not a bad hostel but the location and the party spirit was not for me...

Loved my stay at Asylum, met some great people and felt really welcome by all the staff. Would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone travelling on their own and wanting to meet interesting people who are up for a laugh.

It was really a dirty hostel, our room had bugs and sand on the floor, looked like it was never been cleaned. We had our room just beside the garbage room and it was really smelly.. and the ac was broken, which they didnt want to fix so thumbs up!

Free internet on the computers was good, but the missing remote for the tv made it tricky to use. Good place to base yourself for exploring.

really cool hostel, cosy atmosphere, 2-beds dorm is an excellent idea. If I ever go to Sydney again I'll stay only there
