Fab times at Asylum! If you just need somewhere to crash its spot on, and being so so close to the train station in kings cross its very easy just to top on a train to get to Bondi! Great staff and felt very safe. Would stay here again
close to king kross, 10 minutes walking to the city, ideal location for party animals, not for quite people. common areas cleaned daily, but our room was dirty and dusty. the staff (Anthony) is very kindly, he upgraded my room to a one at the last floor with private bathroom and an amazing city view for free. Also he was very helpfull. little kitchen.
Good place to stay really enjoyed it nice staff, rooms nice and friendly people, about 20 min walk from the city center but well worth the price, owner was great had good recommendations and would certainly stay again
Good value hostel in the heart of a very expensive city. 2 minutes walk from Kings Cross station and a myriad of surrounding attractions (the flip side is that ambient street noise can be quite loud on weekends). Bathrooms clean, room smelled a bit funky, but common area very well maintained (with free internet access). Staff and guests very friendly, festive atmosphere predominates. Overall a great choice for a social backpacker finding themselves in Sydney.
There was not many stuff in the small and dirty kitchen. My 1st room had a beautiful view over Sydney but the bed was not really good... my 2nd room was really small but atleast the bed was better. The owner was nice and explained where the best places in Sydney are
Located within walking distance from CBD, this is a good base. The kitchen facilities were too small for the number of guests unfortunately. Good that had computers to use 24/7. Bathrooms were kept really clean, but other common areas weren't great and often smelt of spilt stale beer from the night before. Overall okay though.
Decent accommodation in King's Cross, bathrooms clean and decent kitchen facilities which were let down by not everyone cleaning up after using it. Friendly staff, overall an ok experience.

Nice place to stay if you don't expect too much. This is a good value for money. Pretty tidy, with great atmosphere. Feels more like home not a hotel. Great location for hiking around the city.
Had a great time in this hostel. I stayed there for about 5 weeks. I would definqtely recommend this hostel to people who are planning to stay for a while in Sydney. The atmosphere is really nice and you meet plenty of people. Good place to party but not to much noise during the night. I was working during 4 weeks and had no problem to get some sleep. Only down side is that you have to pay for wifi and that the kitchen is a little small.
It is a small hostel, only a few room, location is fine if you like crazy places to do parties. Really close to a shopping center and to the train station.

Staff was nice and location is perfect: Directly in Sydney's party area and walking distance to city and Opera House. Cleaned on a daily base. Nice backyard but since it was winter, seldome used. Indoor community room quite small with a big TV and XBox. So, most of the time people were just playing Fifa. Most guest were Backpackers, working for a bit. Altogether Ok, because cheap.

I was lucky enough to be on the top floor. Amazing view for the money! Fun, party hostel within the Kings X area. Not for families, but tons of fun.
Really great time here and fab value for money. No complaints- I would definitely go back
Asylum is a great hostel and a credit to Tony the manager who obviously as a Kiwi in Australia has a bit of pride in keeping a well maintained, clean and friendly hostel with decent value for money. Tony understands backpackers and was very accommodating in letting me keep my bag in my room after checkout while I spent most of the day whale watching before heading to the airport for a flight. The only problem I had was the reception was closed when I returned at 4pm so I didn't get my deposit
Great hostel and great staff very helpful and friendly
Despite the fact that I read some negative comments, took a gamble of sorts to make it to the hostel during my stay in Sydney and it was a good decision. Very friendly and helpful staff (Thanks Tony and Haroon), clean (and ample number of) bathrooms, spacious dorms and a cool hangout place in the basement. The location is great in terms of closeness to public transport and places around. I am glad that I stayed there to find this rare gem of a place in a way :)
Great staff. The hostel is about as clean as you can expect. When I was there the hostel seemed to have a lot of long term people staying there and they all seemed to have there own little cliques. Most of the long term people seem to be moving out within the next few weeks or already have though. Overall if I am in Sydney I will probably go back.
I had read a few reviews of Asylum after i had booked the hostel, so i was a bit reserved when i arrived. But i was very pleasantly surprised. Room was more than i was hoping for ( i stayed in a private room). Staff very friendly and all facilities was as expected. I was very happy regarding my stay at the Asylum
