I'm not sure why this hostel has such a high rating, everything about it seemed average to me. We stayed 2 nights total (before and after a 2 day trip to Fraser Island), so maybe we didn't have enough time there to experience what other reviewers liked so much. FYI that you need to pay extra for air conditioning in your room, and their wifi system is odd (they give you slips for 3 hrs of wifi at a time, so you have to keep getting new slips from the office, even if you paid for unlimited wifi).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woolshed. We're seniors (65+) and appreciate that this is not a "party" hostel. While most of the other guests were decades younger than we, they shared our love of travel and exploration, so we often had interesting conversations with great people from all over. Kudos to Megan and her staff for helping make our trip a resounding success! Larry and Carol

Cute little hostel with very nice staff, good location to start with Fraser Island Tours etc. Rooms, toilets, showers and kitchen were clean, nice atmosphere in the lounge but very few people when we were there.

really nice place to stay but a bit boring.. there wasn't anything close to the hostel.. when I went to fraser island I had to pay 5 $ to leave my luggage there.. but they picked me up and dropped me off to the coach station for free.. laundry was 3$ and you don't need the dryer.. I slept in a 6 bedroom with no air con just 2 fan.. was a bit hot but ok..

In average, the hostel was pretty good. Clean, quite and organized. Internet was expensive, but the rest of the facilities were ok.

Very clean hostel, lovely character. It helps that there is a shared courtesy bus as its a little far from the bus.

Big garden, outdoors area to chill out with hammocks. Free wifi if you book trips with them. Really cool kitchen in a room themed as a 'Woolshed'. Very unique! Clean bathrooms. Air con cost $5 for the day. The only problem we had was the reception opens and closes at unusual hours and sometimes the receptionist will just be gone when you need something. She can be late opening the reception too. Be aware of the closing times if you are arriving from a bus journey. Great hostel overall!

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved the laid-back atmosphere this hostel was providing. The staff is quite friendly and very helpful. We arrived Hervey Bay transit centre at 10:20pm and the friendly staff still picked we 3 people up even she was on bed (very likely). I also appreciate the management team allowed us to stay one more night on Christmas Eve which saved our time to move to another backpackers just for another 1 night.
