This hostel sits just between the nightlife areas of Temple Bar and Wexford Street, ideal for those looking for a pub off the beaten track. Hostelworld guests often say how much they appreciate the busy common room, with ping pong, a pool table, foosball and a PlayStation. We particularly like the Bald Barista café at the front of the hostel, where you can meet the locals or your fellow travellers over some of the best coffee in town.

Are you looking for cheap, clean and secure accommodation close to everything in Dublin city centre? Avalon House is located just minutes' walk from Trinity College, Temple Bar and St. Stephen's Green.
We offer a variety of rooms, from 12-person dorms, 6- and 4-person rooms, singles and twins, with en suite or shared facilities.
Rates include bed linen and breakfast, free Wi-Fi and Internet terminals. We have a large self-catering kitchen, a games room with table tennis, foosball, PlayStation and a pool table, plus a cinema with free movies every night.
We have free city maps, event guides and discount books, plus a free walking tour which departs reception at 10.30am every day! We also offer bicycles for hire, laundry service, luggage storage, laptop safes and a travel desk with a tour-booking service.
We're also home to the famous Bald Barista Café where you can enjoy the best espresso in Dublin.
A proud member of Europe's Famous Hostels, Avalon is one of the only hostels in Ireland that uses wind and solar energy to power the hostel and has full recycling facilities.
The cheapest way to get here is on the 16 bus from the airport. It will drop you right beside the hostel on Aungier Street and costs €2.65. Make sure you have exact change as none is given on the bus. The journey lasts about 40/60 minutes and it operates from 7.45am during the week and 8.30am on Sundays. The last bus is 10.40pm except Saturday when it is 10.20pm. Buses go roughly every 20 minutes but check the timetable at the bus stop for exact times

We really make the effort to provide as much entertainment to our guests as possible, from our free Skype phone and free walking tours to our table tennis, free video games and, of course, the witty banter at the desk! We're also pretty proud of the Bald Barista coffee shop in house-it was voted Dublin's best espresso.

We're in a Victorian building with character near most of central Dublin, like Grafton Street (3min walk),Temple Bar (5min walk), St Stephen's Green (2min walk), Vicar Street (6min walk), St Patrick's Cathedral (2min walk) and the Guinness Storehouse (10min walk). I usually recommend that people visit the National Archaeology Museum as well; it's free and only a three-minute walk away.- Dermot, Assistant Manager

I couldn't find anything that annoyed me or that I found that was not being taken care of. Well, except that my room was quite cold because the heating wasn't active, perhaps due to the season (mid May)

Things to Note
Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and cannot share dormitories.
Check-in to all rooms is from 2pm onwards.
You pay for your room upon arrival but please make sure your credit card is valid. Cards are verified the night before arrival and bookings with invalid credit cards may be canceled.
If you have booked using a debit card, you must contact the hostel at least 24hrs before arrival to confirm.
