Avalon is a well-located place with a good staff but where the individual rooms are not comfortable at all - not value for money Breakfast was very poor and the lounge area was very small - further if you want to connect your laptop you have to pay for a plug adaptor and it is not possible to rent it with a deposit payment.

cleanliness, atmosphere and security very good for a hostel (even has lockers + safes which can be used or a deposit). free breakfast was a bit meager, but there is a cafe where additional food items, coffee etc.can be bought. Lights in the corridor were switched on all night, so my room was bright as day (window above the door which could not be covered up) which made it a bit hard to sleep. other than that, everything was excellent.

The shared bathrooms and the toilets are really dirty. On Saturday in the morning there was no toilet-paper... disgusting.

Kind of dirty and a bit of a hike from temple bar when you're drunk.

We had a great time staying at the Avalon House. The staff was very helpful in giving recommendations and they even put on an awesome free walking tour!

Stayed with friends and eat out so didn't really use facilities. Rooms were nice, bed was comfortable, toilets could use a clean but showers were clean, have a no alcohol policy but they didn't stop us bringing cans past reception with no attempt to hide it. Just drink in your room, clean up after yourself and nothing is said. Top location, loads of good restaurants and pubs around. Lynch's across the road has excellent Guinness. Overall, excellent hostel, I recommend it.

Breakfast had its limitations, and possibly not enough communal facilities- but otherwise great.

Rooms very small opposed to competitor in Dublin and a poor breakfast . The kitchen is very dirty in the evening, to find a clean plates we have to eat before 18.00. Noisy all the night. There isn't respect and security during the night to stop people talking high and drinking in corridor and rooms.

The common area is great! But the room wasn't so clear and too small for 4 people (4 beds ensuite)

the cafeteria stole a large amount of room to guests. My twelve bed dorm, the toilets and everywhere else was exttremely stinking. the staff was totally unhelpful. over the years I recommended the place to friends but will stop doing so. I miss the old days when ronan was manager

Great staff and facility the only negative point was that the bathrooms were not cleaned quite often.

This was very close to the city and had all the facilities you needed. The staff were friendly and for a big hotel it was not too noisy. One of the top hostels I've stayed in.

We really enjoyed our stay, BUT the breakfast should be available for a broader range of time, or even just an hour later.

great atmosphere and plenty space/facilities for hanging out and a group-feeling even when you go there on your own! rooms/ bathrooms are small and plain though, with showers/ sinks operated by push-buttons without heat-adjustment. rooms have heating but are badly insulated and it's never really dark due to overhead windows.breakfast is very simple -no coffee, cacao and tea only, toast and jam, cereals (no fruits/veggies).overall simple but great atmosphere and well worth the price.
