Hostel was great. There was a common room with lots of activities and people constantly hanging out. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The showers were great, be wary however they are co-ed, which was fine with me but may be an issue for some. The only negative was there was only one outlet in our room (6 bed dorm) and since I was in a loft thing in the room I would have had to walk down the stairs and I would have had to crawl through another's bed to access it.

Toller brushs can be useful. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay at Avalon House.

Avolon house is an excellent location in the city. Equal distance (5 min walk) to the north and south side, both with their own (but quite different) charm. The hostel itself is clean and relaxed and the staff are helpful and friendly, overall a great hostel, oh and they have a really cool cafe on the ground floor, bonus! Also great value for money.

Cons: Only 1 set of outlets in dorm rooms for 6-12 people. Kitchen was very dirty & despite signs for ppl to wash their own, dishes were piled up. No common oil/ salt/ basics are provided, but there is a "free" shelf. Staff were not particularly friendly, but adequate. Very few toilets - only 1 in the entire shower room on floor n°1 !! 5 or 6 showers but 1 toilet? Very noisy pipes Pros: LOCATION is perfect!! That there IS a kitchen. Decent vibes. Decent price. Comfy beds. Wifi worked everywhere

Staff didnt know much about the city. Everything was cleaned everyday but the bathroom would always smell bad. Wifi is terrible in the rooms. It's a party hostel so dont expect silence. The included breakfast is basic, but it works! It's good value for what it is!

Great place to stay if you're in Dublin for a week, but trips exceeding that could be uncomfortable.

I have stayed in several hostels in Dublin but this one was absolutely the best!!! Very friendly and helpful staff, everything really clean, nice rooms and enough space to sit down with your laptop somewhere, and have your tea or coffee. The kitchen was also quite big and breakfasts tasty (simple like everywhere, but quality of food was much better - not just the cheapest toast bread or marmelade). I felt really comfortable and at home there. Excellent hostel! :)

This hostel is in a great location. A stroll away from everything and temple bar. There is a cafe attached which is handy. The free breakfast is just toast and coffee but it a something.

Very good price-performance-ratio! The four bed rooms are really quite small but if everybody keeps his stuff together it's not a problem. The street outside can get noisy but you can't expect anything else, if you wanna stay close to the city center. We were surprised how clean the staff kept the showers and toilets! Breakfast is simple but free... would be nice to have some cheese or something though.

The room (no. 120) was very small for 4 people! Also it was a bit noisy because of the hand-dryer in the bathroom next door. The breakfast was enjoyable!

Rooms on third floor are too bright.

If you're on the third floor, don't expect to get much sleep; bright hallway lights shine into the rooms all night

When we got to our dorm, somebody was sitting on my brothers bed so we asked the staff for new sheets. We went out for drinks and when we came back there was another guy sleeping in his bed! My brother had to take someone else's bed ...

Nice hostel in a good location to visit all the old quarter. The girl who checked us in was very nice and she suggested us a really good place to have dinner and listen live music.

Overall very good. Only wish hostel would have notices asking clients to leave quietly early mornings for flights, coaches etc.
