The single hostel smelled like a senior living home. I imagine its been trashed over the years but its still pretty brutal to deal with for a couple nights.

One of my favorite hostels that I've stayed at in four months! The house has a great ambience and attracts many locals, which is a treat for travelers trying to have a more authentic experience. Great facilities, especially cute cafe/restaurant. Also in a fantastic location. I definitely recommend Avalon to any traveler in Dublin!

I thought my stay was ok. What is less ok is that email telling me : "When you leave your positive feedback send an email with a copy of this and receive 20% off your next stay". Pathetic.

I wish the building was a little bit warmer, the large room got pretty cold! It also would be nice if the wireless reached down into the basement area, the upstairs was packed so we weren't able to sit and get wifi.

We had a wonderful stay at Avalon House. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and willing to assist with anything and everything. The breakfast is quite plain but really all you need. We loved the fact that the rooms were nice and warm, and that the hostel is so central! We walked EVERYWHERE! Thank you for a fantastic time in Dublin!

Had a room facing the street, was quite loud. And the sink was too small, washing your face was difficult. But would stay there again, location is great, breakfast is for free.

Excellent hostel, seems in tune with what the people staying there want. Quite clean. Free internet, not just wi-fi, there are computers for free use instead of the now seemingly customary €x an hour in most places. Late check out option for 5 euro seems amazing to me. :) Never seen it before.

They use one sheet folded instead of two, this means if you move even slightly you are exposed to the nasty discolored mattresses. I found the staffers with whom I spoke to be rude and uninterested in helping. Example, I came to check in and the man at the front desk told me the internet was down and I should wait five minutes, I sat at the benches across from the desk and waited. He then checked in the man that walked in two minutes later and never mentioned to me that the internet was back up

In times of low-season, it is nicer to not stick to the 'mixed dorm' policy; provide some more Female-only dorms please!

Room was ok, but communal showers were cold as no hot water. The kitchen was filthy, and the "hostel" cook was sometimes the worst culprit and took over the whole kitchen with unwashed dishes in several sinks. Wifi was more often than not, not working, even downstairs. Breakfasts good, and the place does try.

My first hostel experience! I told them this when I arrived. The staff was so helpful my FULL stay, a total of 5 days. I'll never forget Avalon House!

Avalon House is a good place to stay if you 're travelling with a small budget, nice idea the Thursday eve free meal but the atmosphere wasn't so friendly when I was there. Good place for short stays, nice music in the hall, makes a good atmosphere in the common space! but the light in the corridor is on all the night and there's a window in the doors so you don't get real darkness to sleep, and the beds were noisy, which is not ideal when there are many people in the same room...

Avalon house was not the freindliest of places. Nor did you feel welcome . But It was close to buses and you felt safe. I would say I wouldnt recomend it to any body else. But I have stayed in alot worse!

Great hostel, a little bit out of the way, but no more than a 20 minute walk from almost anywhere you would like to go. Staff were friendly and patient, and breakfast wasn't bad either. Overall it was excellent value for money, and I would definitely stay there again.
