Stayed the night before the aviemore half marathon, hostel full of runners so it was a good atmosphere, very relaxed place set in the woods With loads of wildlife, great big relaxing room with sofas to chill our. Really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend and will most defo be going back maybe just to relax rather than run a half marathon!

Great location for hiking and the staff are very helpful. Continues the frustrating tendency of SYHA hostels of not putting plug sockets in the rooms.
The spacious television lounge at Aviemore Youth Hostel - with rabbits everywhere racing across vast green views outside its bay windows - is befitting a ritzy national park lodge. In fact, Aviemore is precisely in Cairngorm National Park. A quick 9-mile ride on the number 31 city bus climbs to the Cairngorm Ski Lodge, which is a steep but short 90-minute hike to the 1,245-meter summit of Cairngorm Mtn itself - featuring deep frost everywhere, freezing temperatures and near gale force winds.
Lovely sitting by fire, met some nice people
I had a great stay at this hostel. Staff were helpful and friendly, kitchen / dining area was well appointed. The hostel was very clean throughout. Sink in the dorm room was a bonus. The lounge is large with lovely views over the tree studded grounds. The reception area too was large enough for several groups of people to be there without feeling crowded. The main downside is the same as all Scottish YHA hostels - the wifi is too expensive and should be free. many guests complained!
Nice stay and nice guys there. We were allowed to come back later, after 4 days of wildcaming and hiking, for a free shower, before we took a train to Edinburgh. Thanks!
Had no free wifi or Internet acesss, had to pay for it. The doors were locked at 230 on a Friday and Saturday night and earlier during the week, and checkin wasn't until 5 o'clock at night,
Its a piecfull youth hostel with a very big living room and a smaller reading area which are both perfect for reading a book, and a big garden no contant music playing like in other hostels. its located in the Cairngorm National Park, thats just superb. Unfortunately there are no lockers in the room, so I would not want to have an expensive camera with me in this hostel. But the dormitory doors are locked, entrance only with a key. For me an almost perfect hostel.
