Overall I had a good stay, but it is a quite annoying that people cannot stay in the building between 10am and 5pm. This irritation becomes extremely inconvenient, especially if someone is jetlagged and needs to sleep, or if they arrive from a flight in the morning/early afternoon, and cannot even get in to leave their luggage.

Great cheap accommodation in Fukuoka nearish to the subway, airport, and busses to the ferry terminal. Plenty of restaurants and cafes around. Bring your own towel. Friendly English speaking staff. Morning coffee and wifi.

The redeeming quality about aza Fukuoka was the nice bunks with curtains for privacy. However, I found the hostel to be sterile. More could be done to make this place warm, friendly, and inviting. It was inconvenient to be locked out of the hostel for such an extensive period every day (10am - 5pm), as well as the late check-in time. It is said that you can drop off your bags early and a time is requested, but when I arrived a mere 20 minutes earlier, the doors remained shut to me.
