Social hostel with good communal areas, big, well equipped kitchen and nice and near beach.
Great central location, especially if you want to spend time on the beach. Mall of the Americas is close, as well as a few big supermarkets (HiperLider, Jumbo, and Unimarc). Very comfortable place - a very welcoming environment.
Stayed there for one night in a mixed dorm. We arrived before 6am, and got to check in and get to the room to sleep straight away(was moved from female to mixed dorm to get the room that early). The dorms are pretty big, beds are great and you get a duvet. Wifi worked great all over the hostel. The kitchen is big, and the common areas are also big with lots of places to sit. It is located by the beach, and a 10-minute walk from the main sqaure. Overall a great hostel.
The host didn't show us around the hostel. Although it was great with breakfast every morning, bring cheese and ham if you don't like jam.
I wish that the kitchen closed a bit later and could open earlier, or at least facilitate heat water for coffee. And in my opinion a flat in dining rooms to enjoy the programming while you eat (our custom Chilean culture)

Backpackers Iquique was a really excellent place to stay. The staff were really accommodating (we arrived at 4am), we met some really terrific people as the common area is fine to chat, breakfast was good, location right over the road from the beach is perfect, a short walk into the main centre. Plenty of room in the good kitchen (except at peak hour dinner time). We had a double room with bathroom, which was comfortable and clean. Individual lockup boxes available for valuables.
Good hostel near to the beach, nice atmosphere and staff.
It was loud at night. The room was good size and it is right across from the beach.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would have stayed longer if we had more time. Make sure you buy some BBQ food and charcoal and join other guests for a tasty BBQ.
Great hostel, ideal location. Kitchen is big and clean, but fridge is far too small for all guests and very disorganized. Breakfast is decent but hours available could be longer. Share bathroom/shower is quite small but water was hot. Beds are clean and comfy. Staff are A .
Great spot just steps from the beach. Clean comfortable beds and rooms, good vibe, lots of room to sit and hang out. Fast internet in the main areas, no so great in the rooms upstairs. Restaurants and supermarket close by, and the beach, the beach, the beach! Front desk can organize paragliding/sand boarding etc. There's a BBQ Arab outside, hot water showers, and decent breakfast. Overall no complaints - and you won't find a better location! Taxi from Tur Bus station should cost 2500 pesos.
Great atmosphere, easy to meet other travellers, close to the beach. Best hostel I have stayed in in South America so far.
In hindsight would've picked somewhere closer to bus terminal as we were only there for one night but it's uber close to the main beach. This hostel seems ideal for single travellers out to party; attention was clearly paid to communal areas but bathrooms, breakfast & twin room were *incredibly* basic. Staff member incorrectly located on the map multiple items. Another didn't understand for several mins that a deposit thru HW was paid in advance of arrival. Luggage storage room was never locked.
Big hostel, liked the location close to the beach, other than that, nothing special. Our dorm only had one powersocket which had to be used for the fan. They have some nice stuff like pool and ping-pong tables and some balconies overlooking the beach which is nice.
Staff members were not particularly helpful, especially after they made an error with our booking. Close to the beach but you'll have to walk a bit to get to the good parts and also the old town. Kitchen was well equipped. Room was tidy but there weren't enough lockers for the guests
The hostel is a good one. It has big rooms, nice common areas and the best are the two roof spots to see the sunset. It was clean and they organized a nice dinner for christmas, it was maybe a bit too expensive for the food we got but i think its just chile (not the cheapest country). The only thing i would not recomment is to take the taxi which is called by the hostel, I believed that i get a reliable taxi driver because it from the hostel but he still tried to fool me.
This is a great hostel, just by the beach. The breakfast is good, always clean and the staff is really helpful. Downs; kitchen always crowded (but I stayed there over Christmas so the hostel was full) and the lockers in the rooms weren't always functioning or in good shape. But I would definitely stay there if I go back to Iquique!
Very nice, relaxing place to stay! People are nice and the beach is just over the street
We had the double private with bathroom etc. The room was fine but overpriced especially with no fan or tv. Also the sun heated the room quickly and with no breeze was quite hot, we have travelled for 5 months backpacking and this was the most expensive room we have had to pay
The common space it's realy warmful, it was the best kitchen I've already seen in a hostel. Me and my friends just passed awesome days in this hostel.
