We had a nice tatami room for two people, there was a free drinking water tab and at least one of the staff spoke good english, which seems to be rather seldom in Japan. Everyone was really nice.

If youre just looking for somewhere to rest your head and dump your luggage this place is a great option. I was only there one night but it seemed very friendly and people were enjoying the communal areas. Room was just a box and a mattress and i didnt expect anything more or less. Everything is so close. All in all i wanted a cheap bed for the night and thats what i got. Should aldo mention excellent friendly staff. Very helpful.

Great place next to a public transit hub that you walk to and get anywhere. The staff are super friendly and helpful.

This hotel really surprised me. The price is incredibly cheap, the location is amazing - the hotel is located right next to the Osaka loop line and the Osaka metro. On top of that Shinsekai contains a ton of amazing and well priced restaurants. The facilities were also surprisingly good. The showers were clean and modern, and the toilets were perfectly serviceable. The common room was big and well equipped, and the free wi-fi worked well. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Except the smell of Japanese mats everything was good. Excellent price, good location and very friendly staff. If you also clean the toilets in 2nd, 3rd and other floors like a ground floor, it would be really high level hotel. Thanks

Location is great, right on the subway and within walking distance of Denden town and Shin Tennouji. Internet connections in the rooms are terrible and inconsistent elsewhere. They also have non-smoking rooms next to the smoking balconies so you can't use the windows. Their credit card machine is archaic and doesn't work with new generation credit cards.

My overall rating in percent isn't that good' but if you're looking for a cheap place to stay and you want to have your all small room with thin walls you could go for Hotel Toyo. There are some homeless people in the neighbourhood, but I never felt unsafe or so. The metro station is very close to the Hotel and a Supermarket is just a 5 Minutes walk away. The rooms are small, so better go for one with air conditioning. Staff is very friendly. Just 4 warm showers. You get what you pair for:)

The rooms smell musty. I wouldn't want to stay more than a night. Value for money and privacy is great.

Everything was great except for the cockroach that fell from our air conditioner the day we arrived

The place wasn't bad, but Osaka in August without air conditioner is dreadful. In the rooms there was just a little fan. Good hostel except in summer

the hostel is a little far away from the station, however it is clean and nice stay. The bed is a little annoying because of making sounds.

Have you ever heard of a hostel? Imagine one. You just imagined BACKPACKERS HOTEL TOYO OSAKA. This hostel has everything: written walls, no charge drinks, private rooms. Wow was I sweating in there.

Just stayed one night but it seemed a nice hostel for the price you pay. It's very cheap to a city like Osaka, the individual rooms are nice, japanese style with tatamis, TV and fridge. The only problem is that they didn't have more rooms with A/C so I had to sleep all night with the fan near and it was really hot and not so confortable. Staff is nice, atmosphere seemed nice also with a lot of people talking on the common space. It really seems a good value for the money you pay!

The area around hostel is a bit rough, but it is only minutes from subway station. Rooms are nice, very clean, good WIFI, nice small kitchen and lounge. Good budget place for a short stop-over in Osaka.

You get what you pay. Rooms are Japanese style, so you imagine how they will be. My stay would have been perfect if we had A/C. Shower room was very nice.
