This place is awesome. Location is really good. Right near the bus station and supermarket. Great place to chill with a great atmosphere. The owner and staff are chilled out and helpful. And the breakfast spread is nothing like youve had before. Definately a top hostel on my list....
Very nice breakfast and good location. Bathrooms do not have soaps (even if it´s a hostel, i think the public bathroom should have a soap as well as the private bathrooms which are quite small btw.).
Goede sfeer!! Vriendelijke en behulpzame staf. Best schoon, locatie bij het busstation is heel praktisch. De watervallen tour is super! Een trip naar trinidade is ook een aanrader.
Best breakfast that I had at a hostel (included in the price) in all of South America! They also do BBQ with bowls of mojitos every couple of nights (extra). The only thing I would complain about is there's only 2 toilets in the whole hostel (3 showers) and one of them is upstairs in the dorm (hard to access). Nice kitchen and SUPER helpful staff!
Te definition of relaxation. Hammocks galore, chilled out but very friendly staff and owner plus a good availability of activities if you want. As a converted house the facilities are functional but basic bit I promise once you eat their asado that won't matter! Book ahead in high season
Very close to bus station which is useful. Hostel is very small, triple bunks in room and not really enough space to store backpacks. Lots of hammocks around and pretty chilled out vibe, not really much going on though. Ensuite consisted soley of a shower, no toilet or sink. BBQ night was really good food and lots of Caipirinahs for the money....only R$30. Found it difficult to tell who was actually staff in the hostel or if the people around were just family members.
We had a great time here! We were only here for two nights, but in that time the staff prepared a huge BBQ and lots of drinks for us all to enjoy for a very little price! The dorms are great and very comfortable, and the staff are very helpful!!
Pablo is the man! Very nice environment, very nice city, amazing beaches and other options around. I would recommend the river/waterfalls tour that is organised by the hostel itself.

Fantastic hostel due to the helpful and friendly staff and the excellent communal areas that contribute to a great atmosphere. Very good location, just a short walk to the Old Town and all the tour operators. The breakfast was also excellent. Only negative point was that there is no A/C in the private rooms. There is a large fan which keeps you cool at night so this wasn't really an issue. I would definitely recommend this hostel and would have liked to have stayed longer here!
Great atmosphere in the hostel, always something going on or a memeber of staff around to give you little tips. The best breakfast in any hostel and the friendliest staff. The waterfall trip with Pablo was great and well worth doing. Overall one of the best hostels Ive stayed in. On the downside the rooms feel slightly cramped and another bathroom would be nice. But the positives definitely over-rule. Top Hostel!!
A don't miss hostel. The breakfast here is a feast- not kidding, I made breakfast bruschetta one morning. The staff are friendly and always up for a chat and to help you out in anyway they can, even taking you to the waterfalls. Great location, next to a supermarket and the bus station is a 30 sec walk. They also offered dinner here (R$30) which was a great way to meet everyone and it came with a huge bucket of caipirinhas.
The hostel owner took us on a great waterfall tour which I reccomend and the common areas of the hostel have a friendly and homey vibe. Bfast gd... However, we booked a private 3bed room w ensuite... The third bed was filthy (sand and dead bugs) and was literally a thin foam mattress on top of an unwashed bench top, there wasn't a/c as mentioned in hostelworld and the bathroom and shower was ridiculously small and pokey... If you stay avoid the private rooms- not worth the extra money at all!!
A chilled hostel with lots of hammocks to hangout with other travelers. Pablo, the owner is an awesome guy who is like a father figure. If there are enough interests, he'd take a group for a waterfalls tour, which is awesome fun. All the staff are very friendly and the breakfast is one of the best with so much food and healthy fruit options. If happens to be there for the BBQ night, do not miss it as Pablo would serve up the yummiest Argentinian asado! Loved my stay and wished I had more time!
This hostel ticks all the boxes and the staff are very helpful. Although its not really clean, it's fine for a hostel. The main problem is the air conditioning which hardly works in the dorms which is crazy in summer and the rooms feel quite cramped. Awesome breakfast, location and a nice pool and terrace to sit on too. Probably better for friends than couples as its a really social hostal especially at the weekend.
Amazing breakfast and dinners. The staff are nice and welcoming. Very clean; convenient location right near the bus terminal.
Amazing hostel!!! It's like staying at someone's home with a group of other travelers. Pablo the owner is so accomodating, he took us out on a day trip to waterfalls in his kombi. The meals they do are such good value and they make caipirinhas by the bucket! Our double room was lovely and even had a tv! Thanks for having us!!!! Stay here everyone!!!
very good hostel. beds are great, nice breakfast, located wonderful. Pablo the owner is a great person, go with him to the waterfall tour, one of the best experiences I had in Brazil!
Very cozy little hostel, nice staff, EXCELLENT breakfast, I mean EX-CEL-LENT and maybe the best I've had in any hostel ever. Slow wifi and ancient PC for the guests. Kitchen facilities very good, cheap laundry service, close to bus station. Cute little puppy playing around :) BUT: a lot of noise during weekends, might be party lasting late in the night, talking about 02-03 am - so bring your earplugs! Recommended.
We had a great time at Backpacker's House! The staff is very nice and there is a wonderful atmosphere!
