This was one of the least expensive hostels I could find on Venice proper. The plaza it is located in is has something going on at all times of the day and night. Although there is no kitchen or common room, there was wifi in my room. The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable. A good value for Venice.

(NOTE: They actually put me at Antico Capon.) I got bites on my feet that fit the description of bed bug bites. Sure enough, the blood spots were on my blanket. I showed staff the blanket and asked for a refund. They told me (get this) that they only wash the blanket "seasonally" and that the blood was just someone else's old blood from a long time ago. Gee, thanks, that's tons better! If you want to get bit by bugs and/or sleep under blankets covered in someone else's blood, this is your place.

Staff are rude. There is no wifi at all at our side of the building. We backpackers depend on wifi as of its our lives. How can something so simple be denied.

Fantastic location - Campo Santa Margherita, where you can chillout during the day and party and meet people by night. We booked two beds in a 5-bed room but got a private double room, which was wonderful. The facilities are decent, there's always enough hot water in the shower. WiFi is available in Antico Capon - sister hostel just across the Campo. Staff is pleasant and chatty. Beds are comfy, although the linens could use a better wash, as could the bathroom. All in all - a very good stay!

Good location to walk around and to take boat to other sites. But it's too expensive to a place just for to sleep and have a shower.

This is a disgusting excuse for a hostel. Incorrect street address given. Incredibly rude woman working at the reception desk. Free wifi listed but only works in a separate building, which closes at 11pm. Beds were gross and no sheet was given, only a very dirty blanket covered in hair, clearly unwashed. We booked an all female room, but were placed in a room with men. Venice is a tough place to find good hostels but this place is probably not worth the savings

My stay at the Backpacker's Hostel was great. The owner was welcoming (and quite concerned about my choice of footwear, as I arrived wearing wedge sandals!), the location was great (Camp Santa Margherita is a nice neighborhood with delicious gelato), and the value for two nights in Venice proper as opposed to somewhere on the mainland was unbeatable.

It was great for me. I was lucky to get the whole room for myself the whole week, but in any case I believe that the value you get for your money is good. They could do worse than throw in some internet wi-fi connection, but other than that the place is fine.

Although before going to Venice my friend and I have already known it won't be a very nice place to stay, when we got there we are still a little bit shocked. No kitchen, no wifi (wifi is in a buiding acorss the square), only shared bathroom (shared with people living in this floor). But the location is good. It's near the train station and there are several good bars and restaurants nearby. The good part is travellers we met in this hostels are really nice so we still had good time in Venice.

The hostel is very hard to find but so are most things in Venice. Once you find it it is in a good location and the price is very cheap compared to much of venice. The beds are comfortable but otherwise the facilities are not very good. For a short stay on a tight budget it was perfect. I wouldn't want to spend too long there though.

It was good for a bed and a shower. I wouldn't expect much else from them. Staff was very nice and helpful. Location is great for exploring Venice and the plaza the hostel is in is really cool. Majorly disappointed there was no wifi in the hostel.

It is OK for one or two night stay. You get what you can expect for your money. The room is very simple, the 3 of us was there and there were 3 beds in the room no more furniture, or no more space. But it is OK, and the staff, an older man was very nice. And it is good located, however dont believe to google.map when you are looking for the "hotel" where you can check-in - it is located totally at a different part of the city.

The owner let us stay in Antico Capon instead of Backpackers Hostel. Antico Capon was good and clean. The staff was nice. Great value for money. Would definitely stay there again. It was easy to find Campo Santa Margherita (but don't trust Google Maps to find it, use these coordinates to find it on Google Maps: 45.434444,12.323889).

The location is very nice. It's the student quarter, so mostly you get drink and food quite cheap (but still its expensive than in other cities!). The rooms are in a normal appartment. It was not clean at all and it was very dark. There ist nothing to put your towels or clothes. There was no WIFI in the house. The landlord was quite nice. I think for three days just for sleeping and shower it was okay, but I wouldn't to stay longer. Don't go into the restaurant under hotel antico capon its awful!
