Only one washbasin for men on floor with 27 letting rooms

Owner Comment (Hide)
Hi, Thank you for your feedback. One of the Men's Toilet on the 3rd floor was under maintenance and is now fixed. We hope you stay with us again :) Backpackers Imperial

Be sure to ask for the internet voucher before 8 pm, otherwise you will not have wifi. Only 2 parking spot, and they need more fridge and toilets for such a big hostel.

Stayed in a dorm - bed was comfy, room was tiny. Good location. VERY noisy, doors slamming ALL night, church bells constantly. No paper towels or light in bathrooms, and they were very dirty! staff were quite rude, no atmosphere, blackboard of events never changed, charged us extra for EVERYTHING (to leave luggage in unsecured room, parking was ridiculous as was free on street but $10 here!) phone line only takes you to answering machine, plus they kicked us out while waiting for airport pickup

About the hostel itself: everything was fine. big lockers in the rooms, bath and kitchen were spacious and clean. Nothing to complain about. About the guests: nobody locked the door to the room. I even got strange looks from the others when I locked the room before I went to bed. Additionally, nobody put their washed dishes away. These things should be enforced more strictly in my honest opinion; e.g. auto-locking doors would be great.

NOT impressed! (EXPENSIVE)Deluxe room:TINY, bin=bucket with 'bin' written on it, no bag, never emptied. Construction next to our window entire time! Moved rooms and still v.noisy-thin walls/huge place. No elevator, staff unhelpful. Bathrooms disgusting! $10/day for parking, only 2 spots, despite advertising. they booked airport bus for wrong day, couldnt use hostel after checkout but flight was at 10pm, $5 to leave luggage in UNLOCKED room, wifi only in lounge, never updated events, DISAPPOINTED

Great place, location and very affordable... Recommend and I'll be back :)

Some minor repairs are required (like lightning in bathrooms) and these should be more regularly checked. Add some hooks to the bathroom to put things on while in there for toilet, washing at basin or shower

It would be really good to change all those penalty signs for something more nice....I mean first thing you walk in is a sign telling you what something will cost if you do something wrong...the bed I had was probably the best bed I stayed during travels so many thanks for that. However I chose not to come back and one reason being the absolute rip off on luggage. I paid five AUD to leave my bag for three hours, and picked it up without anyone even checking from an -unlocked- room,....

The First impression was bad: in the room there were men working and walking in and out. No lock at the door. Just one shower on my floor. But then I revalueded the place: It's cozy, the beds are very comfortable and clean! and there was a lot of free food in the kitchen. The day after they fixed the door so we could lock it. I enjoyed my stay there, the place it's very central and there is a good atmosphere. Couches everywhere to relax or socialise. A bit expensive compare to other hostels here

Massive jount with little soul.

All in all it was all right. Unfortunately it can get rather loud as the walls are quite thin and you can hear doors banging all through the night. The $5 fee for the luggage storage is ridiculous as the storage is not even locked and anyone could walk in, grab a bag or backpack and walk out again without people at the reception even noticing.

Quality place to stay. Great location, great kitchen, welcoming owner and helpful staff. Would and will recommend to friends.

It was good, the staff was friendly, the only problem is that there's a lot of stairs, so if you have any problems it makes it hard to go up. If that's not an issue, everything's pretty good.

Staff adjusted my room to one closer to a female bathroom

Big place with big clean bathrooms and huge lounge and kitchen area. Only issue is returning after 8pm when access is via a door at the end of a side alley and hence not appropriate for women traveling alone.

Maybe I have wrong expectations as I have no further experiences with backpacker in Tasmania - only with many countries in the rest of the world. Under a Room with "Deluxe Double Bed" I understood something else. Our bed was Ok, but the room atmosphere was very cold. No lamp - only a light bulb, no small table light or anything nice. The bathrooms were dirty. I did not check the kitchen, but the lounge room was not very comfortable too. Even a hostel could offer a bit more atmosphere.
