The staff was very cold and unwelcoming, no smile or trying to help. The bed sheet weren't even changed, facilities really dark and cold, no atmosphere at all. Location (heart of Chinatown) and safety are not too bad though, it is Singapore after all (for the safety part). Given the price you can't really complain I guess, can't have it cheap and good! But you can easily find better hostels nearby on the same street.

WARNING- this is NOT a backpackers hostel! I was the only backpacker there, amongst a bunch of older foreign men living there, while looking for work.. The atmosphere is very odd, and uncomfortable! There is NO privacy here, only curtains around a bunch of bunk beds. Some of the staff were nice and helpful while others were busy on their computers

It was nice to have washing machines there and it was only 3 minutes away from the metro. Be prepared that you will be densely packed with other people in the dorm - there are more than 14 beds, guess there are 16 or 18. As there were at least 2 men snoring (the noisiest I have ever met in my life...) in such a small room, we didn't have a good rest.

Overall, I would recommend this hostel to everyone. Regarding the location,it's very close to Chinatown MRT Station. Therefore, you can enjoy night market and plenty of both food centers and restaurants around the area. Compared to other hostels, staying at Backpackers Inn Chinatown offers you the reasonable price.

They are not maintain of the cleanliness of toilet as well as bedroom. My friend found chigger and the bad sheets is too smelly. Facilities for bathroom: all the kitchen appliances and shower is broken. The price also is too expensive rather than the other hostels rate surrounding by.
