Honestly, not a true hostel in the traditional sense... definitly clean and safe, check in was a little odd..been at a different location all together somewhat distant from the top attractions more like an old apartment building with a bunch of rooms in it, to rent out
Such a nice place, it's perfect for a couple or small group of friends who want somewhere authentic, its very quiet and youre left totally to your own devices which waa perfect for us. 10 min walk to train station, vaparettos very close.
For actually being in Venice this was a cheap, and convenient place to stay. We were pretty much left to our own devices and there was no staff there. The kitchen had what we needed and there was a nice atmosphere to the place.
The lady at check-in was really rude and unfriendly, and the staff weren't there half the time. The room was so hot and humid, and all we had was a standing fan that didn't do much to alleviate the heat, even with the windows open. My advice is to pay just a few euros more for a hostel with better service and air-conditioning!!
Enjoyed staying in the initial hostel but for our last night due to double booking with had a free 'upgrade' to the main hotel. However this was to two single rooms as a young woman i wasn't comfortable with this so my partner slept on my floor instead of his own room. In addition the showers in the hotel we were moved to were awful. To top it off the staff at the hotel were very rude and treated us as if we were little children.
Clean and in a great location for walking round Venice! Rooms were quite big, and good size kitchen but very plain and basic.
The hostel was quite good. It was a bit outside but you can walk to everything in venice, so that was okay. The room we stayed in was not pretty, but it was very clean as the whole hostel was. The bathrooms were nice. Since its in the fourth floor of the building it gets really hot there in the summertime. however we had a fan in our room. All in all, we can recommend a stay, especially for the price.
Good location, which is just outside the main centre. However we found the place weirdly quiet, not much for atmosphere...
Great location but you're never far from anything in Venice. Lots of stairs! Good social area with kitchen so easy to meet people. View of the sea! Bathrooms are clean and good showers. Rooms were hot however fans were provided. Helpful staff but slight language barrier. Very flexible with luggage storage. Also really nice to have keys so can come and go as you please. Would stay again!
Great location away from the crowds but walking distance to St Mark's Square and other Venice sites. Quiet, clean and - quirky - near some great canalside restaurants too! Recommended as an affordable option in an expensive but beautiful city.
We really loved this hostel. It was spacious and clean. A great deal for Venice! It offered a great kitchen and we liked the quiet location. The only thing is that Internet does not work with mobile phones. But I have to say, a break from technology in beautiful venice isn't all that bad.
Bit expensive for what you get, but for accommodation in Venice this is pretty standard. We liked having use of a kitchen and a lounge, and it was nice being away from the touristy areas. When we checked in hotel Minerva the lady was quite rude, asking why didn't have a print out of our booking (which has never been a problem anywhere else). And after getting our key at the backpackers, there was never anyone around when we wanted to ask something.
The hostel's location is convenient and charming; close to the vaporetto stop of Madonna dell'Orto in Cannaregio and away from the more touristy areas of Venice, perfect if you want some respite from the bustling of the centre - and if anything it feels more authentic than the rest. The hostel itself is clean and welcoming, facilities are a bit scarce for the number of rooms and people lodging there but it is overall a very good place to stay if you've a tight budget.

We were very satisfied with our stay at Backpackers Inn. The reason we chose it was because of its convenient location and low price. But we were so impressed by it. The room was very comfortable and clean, and had really nice rooftop views. The bathrooms (2 for a 5 bedrooms) were also very clean and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking and storing food in the fridge. The people working there are very polite and professional. Overall, we have absolutely no complains.
Stayed in twin room with shared bathroom. Location is as perfect as you will get for this price (we looked!!). This was part of an interailing trip and the only hostel we stayed in with self-catering facilities (but when you're in Venice, you have to go out and eat pizza anyway!) Got talking to some people on the train who had had this hostel recommended to them by friends but were unable to stay as it was fully booked; it's that good! Only problem was the slightly low ceilings in our room.
It is a great place to stay within easy walking distance of everything. It is also quiet. Mark and Pamela.
Overall ok place to stay, Venice is crazy expensive, so can't complain too much about the price. Only issue is that the rooms are in the attic, and it gets hot there quick. The fans really do help, but installing air conditioning would go a long way to making this place better. Very close to the vaporetto, and not that far of a walk from the main train. Kitchen was good, although again, got hot in there quick.
