The staff is excellent and also converse with you in English. The USP is location just beside JR ferry station to make a trip to Miyajima and 26 mins by train to Hiroshima or by 45 mins by street tram. Place is little cramped and electricity and water saving initiative is good. Although, atleast a lamp over teh bed should have been made available for emergency or once you return late. Although, the positives scores over minor negatives. A nice place to stay :)

I had such a good time here. Helpful, friendly staff and a really fun common room, where I met a lot of great people.

Absolutely loved it! Great common room area with heating and a kotatsu! Kitchen facilities, very clean showers and toilets. Great for girls as their dorm is lockable, heated and you have your own bathrooms/showers. Staff were amazing!! So friendly and outgoing, really made my stay. Location was also great as it was quite literally a hop, skip and a jump from the JR station Miyajimaguchi and the JR ferry terminal to Miyajima. Has some restaurants and convenience stores very close. Will be back!

Some might say howsome, I say over rated and too expensive for what it is. Still a convenient place to stay, but if you plan to stay there only to visit Miyajima, there are plenty of better and cheaper places in Hiroshima which is just 20minutes by train.

Fantastic hostel located a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal to Miyajima (only a 10 min journey across &free with JR pass!) Accommodation is simple but extremely clean. Had a really lovely couple of nights here. The staff are very welcoming and friendly with lots of good local info We ate gorgeous home cooked food both nights around a big table with staff & other travellers and there's a great common area for relaxing with free wifi, movies etc.

Hostel is a great location to the Ferry, literally next to it! The Hostel was super clean, hot water pressure was wonderful and the Japanese tatami floored dorm room was lovely.

I traveled the whole Europe and part of Japan sleeping in hostels and this is, by far, the best one. The location, at the side of the ferry to the miyajima island can't be more convinient. The rooms and bathroom were clean enough, actually cleaner than in some low rate hotels. But the most important part is the staff and the atmosphere, in short words, awesome.

Excellent location, only 2-3 minute walk to ferry terminal for Miyajima (return ferry ticket is 340JPY but free for Japan Rail Pass holders). Was nice to escape cities, just relax and stay close to the island. Enjoyed social gatherings in the evenings as well. Friendly and sociable staff and good cooks too :-)

The hostel is located at Miyajimaguchi, so across the waters from Miyajima. It's about 25 min from Hiroshima by JR and 1 hour by tram (hiroden). The building is slighty hidden but should be okay if you just follow the instructions. 10min from Miyajima. Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and warm, family like. They even cook delicious food for you and you just chip in for costs. Also give great rec for places (mostly). Receptionist speak English fluently, owner speaks okay English

great place to explore Miyajima island and only 23 minutes from Hiroshima on the JR line, so if you want to escape a city for a couple of days but still have access to one then this is your place. Place is comfortable and the staff cook most nights.

I highly recommend this hostel for at least one night for those wanting to visit Miajima Island as it is right next to the ferry and offers you access to the island first thing in the morning or late in the evening after the hoards of toursts have dissipated. Not much to do in the immideate area but the staff at the hostel creates an environment every evening conducive to travlers swapping stories and tips amongst each other.

Great staff who gave us heaps of info on what to do in miyajima, which is a quick ferry trip away. The beds in the Japanese style dorm were not very comfortable and it could get a bit crowded when full, but it was very cheap and easy to get to.

Staying at Backpackers Miyajima was great. The staff was so friendly and informative. The lobby was warm and welcoming. The location next to the ferry was great. For just 170 yen , you could be over on the island 10 minutes after walking out the door. The staff were so kind to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for us Americans abroad. We had a great time sharing our traditions with the other hostel guests and a few (foreign and native) locals who came to join in.

We had a brilliant stay there- one of our favourite nights in Japan, mainly because of the lovely evening we spent talking about Japan with the staff ( thank you ayami!) they also gave us a great recommendation for a place for dinner, and kindly phoned our ferry company to clear up some details about our Onward trip to Korea. The beds were comfy and the showers nice and hot, AND the free coffee is fresh, not instant! Ten out of ten for us.

Perfect hostel near the JR line, next to the ferry takeoff place to Miyajima, one of the most beautiful places near Hiroshima. Very friendly staff, shower for woman is 2 floors down. Only minus are the 6min shower coins.

The staff was really great and the hostel was clean and tidy. The easy access to Miyajima island was very convenient although it was a long way to the city I will recommend this hostel to anyone going to Hiroshima atleast for one night. It was my birthday when I arrived and the host gave me a bottle of wine which was really cool!
