Backpackers Miyajima Reviews

One word, awesome place! It was near the main attraction, miyajima island. It was so convenient to travel to miyajima island, especially since, its only 5 mins away from the ferry terminal. The owners, karasumi and the guy were very friendly, and they gave really good recommendation of food to eat. For example, the okonomiyaki restaurant they recommended was really good. By far the best okonomiyaki I ate!

This is a great hostel and the Japanese guy working while we were there is the best. Very friendly and accommodating. Full of useful suggestions. We really enjoyed climbing the mountain on the island. Thanks for a great stay, albeit too short. Kelvin and Yadira

This place is not only very convenient when you are planning to visit the nearby island, Miyajima, it is also a very cool place to hang out. The people there are very nice and laid back! There are many beds in the dorm, but due to the allocation that is okay. You get a shower coin each day, but because the time only runs down when the water is actually running, you will have enough time. The place lives through the people working there and the amazing atmosphere. Go there and see yourself!!!

great location if you are also doing Miyajima island which is a MUST! A bit far from the main Hiroshima attractions but train station is minutes away, not a big deal really. Slept in a big concrete walled room with tatami floors and Japanese futon, mattress a bit thin and no doors you can hear noises from dorms next door separated by curtains, but quiet time comes early, all staff exceedingly friendly, highly recommended!

Being an old fart, (57), it was a little like going back in time as veryone else was in their 20's & 30's. Decor was eclectic mix of '70's, with good sense of humor. Ended up spending a day and a half touring around Miyajima- what a special island, and easily on a par with Kyoto. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Would definitely uses again! 5 stars! Clean rooms, environmentally-friendly showers, friendly staff, great location!

There was lots of character in both the design and the staff, they were very personable and helped to plan my site seeing itinerary and were able to recommend hot spots

Best place I stayed in during my Japan trip. Hisa is awesome and took care of just about everything. The atmosphere is really fun and friendly. You gotta stay here.

Had an awesome stay. Everyone who works here is super friendly especially the owner! They were very helpful and recommended a lot of great places to see and eat. It's very green here so you have to use a token to take a shower which only lasts about 10minutes. The rooms seem hastily put together but it was comfortable.

All this excellent review are not enough to describes how much the staff is kind, helpful and funny. It was the best place i have been in Japan!!! The staff is always available to give some good adress and tricks to enjoy the trip not only for Miyajima and Hiroshima but for rest of Japan too. Kazumi and Hisa are the best!!!

Lovely little hostel in a lovely little place...right by the ferry terminal for the Miyajima shrine and half an hour from Hiroshima on the JR. The staff were incredibly helpful and spoke very good english and organised hanami parties everyday for the guests in different cherry blossom areas. A lovely way to experience a slightly different side of Japan!

We went as a group to see the Ootorii at Miyajima. The location is great, but don't go during hanami (flower viewing) season. It's very packed and the way the hostel is set up is not by individual rooms. It's called "dorm-style". Which means there are 20 beds on each floor with just curtains and barriers between beds separating everyone. When you want to wake up early to see Miyajima at sunrise, it's not very nice. Especially when people are loud when all you want to do is sleep.

It's a very nice place to stay if you want to visit Miyajima island. Just a few steps to the ferry terminal and not too far from Hiroshima city either. The dorm has only temporary partitions which divide the room into 4 or 5 sections. But it's fair enough as they wrote it as 20 bed dorm. The staff speaks very good english and is very helpful with the information we need.

Great atmosphere and a great place to meet other travelers. There isnt much to do in Mijajima itself, but its a good halfway point for seeing both Hiroshima and the Island. Recommended.

Great place to stay if you want to head to Miyajima. A little far from downtown but easy to get to on the JR line. Clean rooms, great staff. The 7 minute shower token is more than enough time to shower.

One of my favourite hostels. It's right next to the ferry to Miyajima, and there are always friendly internationals to chat to and have a couple of drinks with at the end of the day. Don't let the big dorms put you off - it was just like being at school camp all over again. And the staff are very friendly and keep to help.

Great vibe. Easy to access if visiting Miyajima. Fun and easy going staff. Cozy place that facilitates getting to know fellow travelers.
