The most disappointing place we stayed in 3 weeks in Japan. The least comfortable, the least clean. Not unclean but for Japan, pretty much a state. The showers are all on the bottom floor where the lobby is so you take a shower and come out with everyone all around you, bit odd. Also the kitchen area is right beside a toilet which again not unclean but a bizarre combo should one be taking a dump. Common room was good and a nice cheap vendy is available. Only stay here one night for the island.

really nice, friendly place. Good common room, good chance to meet new people, excellent barbecue on that night.

Typical party hostel for spring break students. Not for adults. People at the service desk are nice, but it doesn't make up for the hostel standard. Rooms look like prison cells - bare concrete walls, no paint, anything, no room doors, just a curtain, and 4-6 bunks. There is no bed lights either and main light goes off at 11pm. The reception desk is quite fine, whereas once you checked in it's really really creepy.

This hostel is perfect for visiting Miyajima and has a great sociable vibe. I was there for the barbeque night and met some fantastic people, ate great food and drank and chatted into the night. The room itself was quiet, comfortable, and had lockers to keep everything secure. I'd definitely stay here again if I came back.

Outstanding! this was one of if not the best hostels i have ever stayed in. It was only one night but i would love to go back just to meet the friends i made there, definitely a reason to return to Hiroshima. Very laid back but also note that this is probably not the best suited hostel for more conservative-minded people. this is a hostel for people who like to have fun and don't mind smoke, alcohol, or comical posters placed conveniently in front of the urinal in the immaculately clean restroom

Great system of limiting shower time, saves resources and stops people from hogging the shower. Walls a bit thin in the dorms. Great, helpful and knowledgable staff.

Amazing location for seeing the island, less than a 5 minute walk to the ferry, bus and train terminals. Fun friendly staff but it is a backpackers, and by that I mean it has dorm rooms, timed showers and shared bathrooms, but hey, that's half the fun. Oh, free wi-fi here.

Cool place with cool staff. My trip was kinda out of season so it wasn't extremely lively, but it was easy to sit in the common room and talk to people. The staff also joined the gatherings at evening and seemed to enjoy talking to you and holding small parties. It was easy to get a good nights sleep since the bedrooms were located on the 2nd and 3rd floor, so no noisiness from people awake at night. Great location for visiting Miyajima, but the surroundings itself not so interesting. Recommend.

This is one of those hostels that's trying just way to hard (staff treats guests like teenagers with timed showers and lewd signs asking people not to "spank the monkey" in the shower). If you are wanting to party and have a drink or 10 with fellow travelers, this place is for you. Also, they regularly provide free barbecue dinners to the guests, which was really good! Worth the 20 bucks, but just stay in Hiroshima if you are looking for something a bit more relaxed and comfortable.

fantastic location - just a stone's throw from the miyajima ferry terminal. with the JR pass, i could hop over to the island on a whim. and it's just half an hour from hiroshima and the atom-bomb place. also liked that they cook dinner every evening (at this time of the year) for a reasonable price, which is a good time to meet with others staying here. i would have preferred if the heating was better, and if there was hot water at the wash basins.

Great hostel! The staff were so friendly and willing to help with any questions you have. Stayed there for 2 nights and the staff helped me plan my days (best things to see and do) Also they prepare a very nice dinner every night which is cheap and a good way to talk to other guests! Will stay here again if im back in Hiroshima!

The staff are super friendly, super helpful and super chill. Showers run nice and hot and the location is perfect, just accross the bay from Miyajima Island and seconds from the Train & Subway stations into Hiroshima proper. Beds were comfy and quiet. Met some great people in the common areas. Loved the area. Loved the hostel. Just wish I could have stayed longer!

These guys bent over backwards for me and my mrs, loads of info and got us involved with everyone there. On the doorstep of the miyajima dock and only a 10-15min JR train ride to Hiroshima city centre, great for those that want to party but still have the option there to have a relaxing stay should you not wish to party. To Yoshi and the gang we thank you!

This hostel is a one-of-a-kind because you won't find a place that treats you this well that quickly! The staff running the place truly know what great hospitality means. The location cannot be better for those on a day or night trip to Miyajima. The ferry, a quick 10 minute ride, is situated about 1 min. walk from the hostel. Also, you can find the train 2 minutes away and a streetcar which will take you straight to Hiroshima city. Tram about 45 mins and train 25. You'll be glad you chose M.B.
