Completely unsafe, only 1 staff for the whole hostel on a saturday night, to do bureocratic work and clean the facilities. No lockers around, on the weekend we were there the door keys had been taken by a group of people who was there previously and the room door was unlocked, which made it easy for people to come in and out as pleased, any time of the day or night. Felt really sorry for the staff who was there all alone, especially under such difficult circumstances. Definitely won't be back.

Absolutely loved the hostel. Exactly what I was hoping for--chill, helpful staff, and a laid-back atmosphere. Great experience.

This hostel was very dirty and smelled of smoke. There were piles of dirty laundry in the hallway, there were no garbages in the women's stalls, there were no hand towels/ paper towels/ or hand driers in the bathrooms. There were no lockers to keep your things and the kitchen had old stew sitting on the counter. The floors and rooms were dirty.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hello Jamie I'm sorry to hear that you thought our staff were rude to you and that they treat you with contempt. If you could please desciribe the members to me I can folow this up further. I do find it odd that our staff rated so poorly with you when they are normally regarded in the highest sense by customers. Also you scored the atmosphere as 4 and the locations as 2 when we are five minutes walk from the train and coach station and the centre of town/

This is my second stay at this hostel which I had to come back to. It has an excellent relaxed atmosphere and the management under Andy is great. He has a great understanding of what is on and happening in and around Newcastle. The Wii Fit challenge that he arranged with other guests was a triumph and just added to the great time that we had there.

The major problem was that there was no heating in the room.

Staff was excellent. They were extremely helpful and all around good people. It's a great value, but you get what you pay for. Located on main road, about 10 minutes walk from the train station. Would go here again.

The Hostel should have a more inspiring locally related name, but the manager was very inspiring,in that he was involved in arranging a charity evening and wore face paint and encouraged others including myself to get in on the act. I suggested that the Hostel get in small packs of cereal such as porridge to help the traveller have a quick and healthy start to their journey. But otherwise all was well.

Very friendly and helpful staff, but not very clean. The 8-bed dorm only had an 20x50 cm window that could be opened, so it got rather hot there. It's allright to stay for a day or two if you just want a bed to sleep in and don't bother some discomfort. The location is quite nice, a 10 minute walk from city centre.

Andy the manager made my stay all the more enjoyable! He was really friendly and helpful, could not ask for better staff :)

We had a superb time, the staff were an absolute delight, extremely friendly indeed. We felt very welcomed from the start. The rooms were adequate and apart from a bit of a dodgy shower the facilities were tip top, free internet etc.
