The back packers in itself was fine, clean and comfortable room with fans. Lovely town. We had an unfortunate incident where the owner's son's Pit bull terrier attacked me and bit me in the face, around my eye. The staff didn't take it serious at first and were very disorganized and slow to react. The receptionist even asked if I was "really sure" that I needed a Dr!? I had to go to the Clinic for a tetanus shot, clean up and antibiotics. They never even called to hear if I'm okay. Shocking
Had a good time at Backpackers Paradise. The staff is friendly, outgoing and eager to advice you on what to do in the area. The bar is nice (and far from any sleeping facilities), the nightly fire is cosy and the restaurant for breakfast and lunch are from a quality i've never seen in a backpackers before. The dinner is also good. Don't forget to ask for discount vouchers if you are going to visit an attraction in the area. Recommended!
This Backpackers is located on the main street of Oudshoorn, within a nice garden. It has a sitting area under the trees with a table, and more tables around the small pool. There is a big communal kitchen, good equipped and clean. The front desk person was nice and gave us advice about the town and area around. The room we had was simple but clean with a fan. There was also an option for breakfast which was good and inexpensive. The atmosphere of the place is very pleasant. I would come again.

Nice place, but more expensive than other hostels. Breakfast should be included for that price.
The Ostrich Eggs for breakfast were awesome, as well as the vouchers for the trips in the area.

A very nice property that is about an hour north of George. The kitchen is large and equipped with the basics. The front of the property can be noisy as it faces the main road and cars can be frequent between 6 am and late night. The main drag is about a kilometer away, which means you'll have to walk a while if you want to head into town. Overall, a good experience. Staff is great at arranging tours. Do the Meerkat Experience with the "Meerkat Man" as well as the Cango Caves for sure.
Nice place...very big. We got a private room with ensuite and it was comfy. Nice Common area with TV, sofa and tables and you can get a good valued meal there as well. The girls at the desk are pretty nice although the guy at the bar can be pretty obnoxious. Oudtshoorn is definitely a place that's better with a car as those without it have to stick with the tours offered by the hostel, at a price...
We had a nice stay in Backpackers Paradise. The location is pretty good : close from many restaurants and a small mart. In April, we could get a (non-free) breakfast. You can also get dinner in the hostel if you book it before 5pm. Room was clean and quite quiet (as for every backpackers place, there is always a good party in the common part ;) ). Be aware that the laundry is actually not inside the hostel
We had a great time, staff is really nice and helpful and evenings at the bar were fun! Would definitely stay there again!
The rooms don't seem to be very clean but the hostel is definitely worth a visit! Awesome breakfast (not included)
Amazing welcome and such helpful staff/ owners. So many highlights of South Africa not to be missed near this hostel, great food, only clean hostel I found in South Africa with ample charging points that won't electrocute you! Don't miss this part of SA if your backpacking
Had a wonderful time at the hostel. Staff went out of their way to assist - always with a smile. Were never fazed by the numbers of persons present or the requests made.

Very well kept, looks fresher and newer now than six years ago. All staff very friendly.
Excellent staff and awesome Ostrich BBQ....highly recommend.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Location perfect! An ideal hostel to meet others and socialise or relax, chill and take it easy, whatever you fancy!! A very cool place to stay, I loved it :-)
Very helpful owners and staff. Nightly braais were especially excellent, must go for the ostrich at least once!
We had a great stay! The staff and the owners were very helpful and dedicated. We felt at home right away. Everything is very clean and even in winter the rooms are warm. The kitchen ist spacious and well equipped. They offer a ostrich Braii that is very delicious and worth its money.
Proprietors provided a wonderful BBQ with ostrich, chicken or vegetarian. Atmosphere was warm and friendly. I highly recommend it for a comfortable stay.
A fabulous place to stay the owners, their family and staff made my stay feel like home away from home. Breakfast was excellent my room very comfortable and clean. Sunset on the balcony superb. Breakfast delicious didn't manage a dinner as minimum of 3 required but restaurant across the road very good had a lovely pizza and the ostrich fillet was excellent. No laundry on site but the washing ladies a short walk away do an excellent job. The mere cat experience is a must and the caves are good.
