We stayed at the Backpackers Travel Hostel on our first night in Vietnam....The staff where so friendly and helpful. We were leaving the next day for Sapa and we booked a tour to Halong Bay through the hostel on our return to Hanoi. Our train arrived at 4.30am the day we had booked the tour and we were offered by staff to come back to the hostel and have a shower and breakfast for free before being picked up for Halong Bay. Everything is so Great and Amazing.highly recommend

They sold our room before we arrived. They already emailed us to confirm the room, we had paid a deposit through hostelworld, they picked us up at the airport, then said our double room was no longer available but they had a dorm room or alternative guesthouse! We took our deposit back and left, do not trust them.

Do not book any tours through the hostel, the rate they quote you depends on their mood, your skin type and the weather. They quoted me $80 for a trip that they qouted my friend $50 for (we shared a room.) Located in the old quarter, the hostel is clean and includes breakfast and free internet. If you are looking to keep to yourself then this is the place to stay.

Anna was every bit as kind and helpful as previous posts describe.  I was very impressed with all my tours and her personalized service were well worth the slightly higher cost. The hostel itself was very modern & clean, with a free towel and generous breakfast of baguette, fried egg, bananas and tea/coffee. There were also 6 internet computers available for use in the lobby and a strong wifi signal on every floor. I would definitely recommend this hostel, particurarly because of Anna!
