Staff were friendly and location is right next to the pedestrian street and the Sun and Moon Pagodas. Rooms were clean but the floor was just concrete and the walls were dirty. There is absolutely no wifi connection in the bedrooms only in the common area downstairs. Package trips through the hostel to see the Rice Terraces etc., were expensive but maybe they are expensive in all hostels.

Very Nice location. Clean room with amusing hospitality. The guest room is cool. You can use WiFi in the guest room not in living room that's hurts sometimes. Easily enter in Facebook with very slow internet speed. they have several package's for tour with limited budget.

The hostel needs more lighting in rooms, more lighting in lobby so you can read, the music needs to be toned down a little, and most of all WIFI IN ALL ROOMS. The price is so much higher then motel.

it's really a nice hostel ever. I liked the location from where you can go any visiting place although Guilin is a small city. The environment was perfect, clean and especially like the guest room.

It's a nice place right in the center. Although the area is very touristic it is a good place to start from for tours etc. Rooms are clean and comfortable as well as the bar with its cozy corners! The staff is very nice as well and will try to help you with any questions you have. Totally recommendable!

This was my first stay in a hostel, so after the initial shock of how basic the room was with no tv and a shower over the toilet, I must say that I did enjoy staying here mostly because of the amazingly friendly staff who went out their way to organise a last minute trip for us. We met other back packers who we did the trip with us from England and The Netherlands. We would never have met such lovely people staying in a hotel. The only real negative was the noisy room and rock hard beds.

We are absolutely privileged to be your first hostel experience! We take pride in knowing that we are helping travellers rekindle a renewed curiosity for the world. Our fundamental mission is to connect people and to have memories worth keeping. In the case of our beds, most guests do like our bed firmness however we understand some travellers have much more sensitive backs and we can easily provide a softer bed option or additional coverings to improve firmness. - Team Backstreet

The staff were superb at Backstreet and gave me some great tips. The river raft cruise they organised was great and good value too. The beds are big and very comfy.

The rooms are big and the single beds very large (I slept with my boyfriend!). By the way we booked a room with breakfast but the owner said it was a mistake so we had to pay for it. The girl at the reception spoke good English and she was really nice !

Thank you for your review! We're very sorry for the confusion regarding the breakfast deal. The promotion that was being offered was a 20% off deal to promote our new menu which included more wholesome and tastier food options that are much healthier than your average Chinese restaurant. We keep our dishes simple yet flavourful and we don't use harmful chemicals like MSG. We also use healthier cooking oils like olive oil rather than the transfat gutter oil you find in some restaurants.

My friend and ,both in our late 60's, I found this hostel an incredible find. It had good food, western toilets, full size bath towels, close to food vendors, and to shopping. Decent laundry facilities, amiable staff who all spoke English and were keen to make tour arrangements for us. Would recommend this hostel to any one..
