Jack's a really nice guy who built this hostel from the ground up! Would recommend going just to see it!

very helpful staff, beautiful accomodation, just a little bit far of the main road/lake. But that should be no problem for the usual backpacker and otherwise Jack doesn't hesitate to drop you of at the busstop with the luggage.

The hostel is a lovely new wooden building. The drawbacks are that there is no internet, the hostel is a long walk to the shore of the lake (especially when the road is covered in ice) and the kitchen is very basic, only one portable electric hob and very limited kitchen utensils. The bedrooms were very comforatble and the kitchen and bathrooms were very clean.

Very nice brand new hostel, lots of amenities but any sort of extras they offered seemed overpriced. No internet :(

Beautiful buildings & decoration, nicely located. Slava was very nice when she welcomed us and explained many things. But then she left us alone for two days, which was no problem, but when she came back on our last day, told us that we should've checked out at noon by ourselves, which we hadn't realized, and she asked us to give her 200rubles/ hour/ person. We didn't agree with that and left, unfortunately quite disappointed. Too bad it ended like this, we liked it in the beginning.

Owner Comment (Show)
Let me apologize for her. I mentioned to her once about the 200R policy we have in the hostel in Irkutsk but this is only in hight season and 200R for the rest of the day - NOT PER hour. That keeps our overcrowded hostel less busier as we are limited in space. In LIstvyanka we have enough space and this police will NEVER be implemented. I think she might have misunderstood that or wanted to earn some pocket money (I was out of Russia this winter) She no longer work in our hostel . Too sad it spoiled your impression and you gave us low rating. Jack Sheremetoff, the owner
