Really basic but really fun. Don't start if you don't want to dftink and care about cleanliness> staff are awesome and 5 mins to waslk to their lake

This property was mis sold to me under the pretence of being part of a party goers accommodation which was a lot of fun as well as a good clean place to stay with a beach nearby. Well the hostel was a derelict house, really dirty there was rubbish everywhere. I had to go and find a B&B nearby to take a shower and have a good sleep for the second night. This is unacceptable.

Shower dirty, no lockers/keys etc...However this is such a cool place to stay. Although there is little to do in the area (lake is pretty/there was a huge market/funfair/music when we stayed which was cool) you'll have so much fun with people in the hostel. We went drink bowling with big crowd - lots of fun. MOST IMPORTANT is the building itself - see it to believe it - an 'abandoned posh hotel' - place is a fun free for all - go explore attics, corridors, stairs- SCARY but so MEMORABLE.

This was a funny, unique and memorable stay, freaky caste with a lot of rooms needed to be explored! Lot of adventure and open people. Enjoyed very much. Highly reccomended but only for youngsters! :)

Cool place & cool people! Maybe we were just really lucky but in addition to great staff every single person who we met at the hostel was awesome. The wine festival was going on so tons of hungarians were around for that as well and the atmosphere in the whole village was very laid back and fun. The hostel building is very cool but a bit run down so don't expect a polished look from the interior either. Beds were comfy, bathroom and sheets clean so really nothing to complain about :)

Loved Balaton Beach house. Such a unique place to stay, basically a 4 star hotel that has been smashed up and turned into a non-stop frat party. The staff were really cool and were backpackers themselves - couldn't tell who was working there and who was staying there to be honest! It was a great chilled out rest stop for us, loved the location right next to the beautiful lake. It wasn't the most secure, you could walk straight in and nothing... didn't bother me personally though. Cheers Scotty!

If your ready to party and have a alcohol fuelled night, this hostel is perfect. If you want to relax and have clean rooms, don't stay there. I had fun, staff were great.

Flyers around Budapest say this is a party hostel but nothing could be further from the truth. Balaton is cool but the real parties are in Siofok. If you want to party or buy food after 10pm don't stay here! There is a 24 hour bar down the road but that was pretty quiet. The guy working in the hostel was chilled and friendly enough but not very informative. Buying international train tickets from balaton boglar is a right ball ache.

Awesome spot, going to miss it a lot!!

Was meant to stay one night here and ended up staying for a week! Best place I stayed in by far. Atmosphere is awesome as everyone just seems to be really friendly so most evenings everyone staying at the hostel (plus the staff) just drinks and socialises together. Seb was great and maintained an air of professionalism at all times. Made so many friends here and was gutted to have to leave. Balaton Beach House is unlike anywhere else you will find so GO THERE.
