i loved the club in the basement. That was very cool and I met a lot of interesting people. I had a blast at the hostel. I would totally stay there again!

Loud in the morning. Sort of "double beds in 16 bed accomodation, a bit strange. Very nicely situated.

If you want to go and party until 5am then Balmers is fine, but if you actually want to sleep, don't go. The noise from the club - with people talking in the street - meant sleep was impossible. Aside from that, Balmers was fine.

Not a bad hostel, but with the nightclub literally under my bed it was tough to sleep. If you are there to really party then it will not be such a big deal. Regardless of why you are there the security leaves a lot to be desired. They have no lockers, only a baggage room that is unlocked and unsupervised. And if you check in after the main reception closes for the night you have to leave your passport with them and I din't like that either.

over all a great place for youngsters, so the elders perhaps find the engagements with the staff, especially the restrau a bit rough. Krishna was good but not warm. the food was great though. so no complaints

The hostel is extremely loud. If you are someone who has trouble falling asleep with noise, I would not recommend Balmers. The music from the club can be heard through the night, particularly the bass. It was such an annoyance. Our room was next to the showers and toilet and we were continually woken up by people using the facilities. Additionally, the ventilation in the rooms is terrible. Despite the relatively cool temperatures outside, all three guests woke up very hot during the night.

I loved this hostel! It was a great location, great staff, great facilities. Everyone was so friendly and helpful in every regard. My one thing was that I wish the outdoor deck area stayed open later. My friends and I aren't much for the club scene and it was annoying we couldn't just hang out outside with a drink and talk at night. The only two options (at the hostel at least) were to sit inside or go to the club. Besides that, I loved the place!

The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond, making helpful suggestions and giving wonderful directions. The hostel feels youthful, yet clean and safe. It can be slightly loud at night, but if you've spent a semester in a dorm you're well equipped to handle it. After a day hiking, I slept like a baby. I booked Balmer's based on a recommendation from a friend, and I would HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. It was also easy to meet great people, since I was solo.

A very quaint little entrance leading up to any exciting social house was quite nice. A bit noisy at night on the ground floor but no problems once in the room. Awesome experience.

The bed placements were extremely awkward with two bunk beds pushed against each other. It's one thing to share a room with strangers, it's another to wake up RIGHT next to them.

The comments are more for you than for Balmers. You have rated it no.1 in your list. But there is nothing in the hostel to make it no.1. Dark, small, scary rooms with all beams hanging very low, hitting the head every time one crossed it. The room had zero ventilation making the night so hot and suffocating. The beds and quilts were equally unclean. I have never stayed in such a scary hostel earlier. It was so disappointing to stay in such a hostel in such a beautiful place like Switzerland.

It was not quiet at all in the hostel at night. People were partying inside the hostel long time after 22:00, and no staff tried to stop that until several complaints.

The reception staff were fantastic but the hospitality staff needed to cheer up a bit! The showers were horrible! You have to keep hitting the shower button every 10 seconds or the water would shut off. One shower had incredibly bad water pressure and nearly tore a whole through the floor. The food was good and happy hour/s were fantastic. Lacked a bit of atmosphere but I am putting that down to the quiet tourist season.

pretty much a perfect hostel...staff super helpful and help plan outings...REALLY great kitchen, only downside is bad showers - pressure is incredibly strong to make up for the push button

It would have been nice at the time of booking to know that their bar and restaurant would not be open while we were staying there.
