We stayed in two rooms - twin & double. - Twin was a shocker. Once you get in and put your bags on the floor, you have run out of standing space. To top it all, our room was attic-like, so we were robbed of headroom as well by the sloping roof. I have some idea how prison must be like. Double = twin and then some. - Staff were hardly helpful. - No lift, and if you have baggage you have to lug them up two steep flights of rickety stairs. - Breakfast - bad - two choices - bread or cereal. daily.

I stayed in the tent village. The staff, Hayden and Mark, were great - I even ate an awesome BBQ vege tin foil parcel dinner with them a couple of nights. Very happy to suggest things to do. They have big plans to improve the village - new bathrooms coming soon. Great bar at the village, good starting point before heading on to The Metro club or cool to just chill out at all night. Amazing views all around and you have green fields all around. Sure to get better all the time! Wendy.

pro: good breakfast included, nice staff contra: Sadly no sockets in the rooms.. people talking on the floor in front of the rooms all night long.. other guests leaving and entering the room early in the morning unnecessarily often because they can't organize themself.. why don't you tell them to go downstairs ?

Had a great time, would stay again, only thing was the food at the downstairs bar was a bit average in flavour and quality, wouldn't eat there next time.

I stayed in the tent village. It's a cool option for summer, but in late august it starts to be cold. Anyway it,s a very good value for money.

We loved staying at the tent village. It wasn't too far to walk to get to the hostel and there we frequent buses that were free to use. The view of the mountains surrounding the campsite is spectacular and we found it difficult to leave the campsite to go do stuff as it was so relaxing sitting in the hammocks and hot tub. The beds were comfortable and not at all like sleeping in a tent. My only complaint is the showers where there are no dividers between each shower and everyone showers together

WC/Bathroom small, not very good. Room absolutely not sufficient - small, plank-beds, no desk, no closet, no chairs, no TV, only 1 small dark ceiling light and only 1 electric plug in the whole room - really dissapointing. The whole room is very low, not possible for plank-beds, maybe for gnomes, but not europeans! Only plus is a average breakfast and friendly staff ("american smile way").

I stayed at the campsite in the summer and it was fantastic. I loved the hammocks and the hot tub with the 360 degree snow topped mountains view. The tents were very comfortable with bunk beds and wooden floors. The showers could have been better but over all it was a great place to stay.

The best hostel in Interlaken. It is a traditional swiss looking house, like a cuckoo clock, with a great garden, bar, and atmosphere. They even do films at 6pm, and the bar pulls people from other hostels too. Go there.

It is the cheapest stay during my trip in Swiss. Facility in tent village is good. However, the tent village is too far away form the main hostel. Traffic between town centre and tents is difficult. Kitchen,. breakfast is not available in tent village which is a little bit disappointed.

We were not really at Balmer's but at their tent village. It was actually quite nice though. There were hammocks, a bbq, and a hot tub. It was a really great place to relax and was a lot like camping (which I love!). If you prefer indoor accomodation, stay at the main site (not the tents).

Rooms are very small. Wash basin in the corridor is bad joke in 21st century. Shower is very small. I was bit disappointed by this hostel.

We had a 3 person room and it was nice. the only problem was that our room was directly across from the toilettes and showers which meant that it was loud all night long. Beware if you are a light sleeper because Balmer's is definitely a party place and it is not likely that you will get a room that is quiet, even if you're not in a dorm!

Need more and better showers. Also lockers in rooms would be useful. Like in other hostels
