Bamber House is a beautiful colonial lodge situated in the peaceful and leafy suburb of Mt Eden, Auckland, just a short bus ride or a 25 minute walk into town.

We are perfectly located if you want to mix it with the locals with a good choice of popular cafes, bars and shops and a large Countdown just a short walk away. We are ideal for those travellers searching for the chilled out New Zealand experience away from the big city but close enough to enjoy the town's attractions when it suits.
We have beautiful parks and Mt Eden itself on our doorstep affording panoramic views of the entire city and providing excellent opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
Our friendly hostel has a choice of dorms and private rooms in addition to clean and spacious communal areas, a log fire and a beautiful big garden. We can accommodate guests from the age of 10 upwards although only those aged 18 and over can be booked into our share rooms.
Our experienced staff are at hand to offer the best advice on travel itineraries around New Zealand and can book you onto any activities and excursions at short notice as well as arranging hire cars at great rates.
We regularly provide activities within the hostel to keep you entertained and ensure you have every opportunity to meet your fellow travellers. We offer $5 meals, mexican nights, quiz nights, movie nights in our comfortable lounge area and frequently arrange trips into the city to try out a few bars and clubs, ten pin bowling or catching the latest blockbuster at the IMAX. Sundays are all about touch rugby with everyone welcome to join in as the Bamber Blues take on the world. We also have a Nintendo Wii, board games and a large book exchange!
Our check-in time is from 2pm although we always try to check you in beforehand if the room is available and we contact all bookings with helpful tips on the best way to reach us. Each guest also receives 200mb of free wifi on arrival. We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful home soon!

We're literally just a stone's throw away from Mount Eden, so guests are easily able to take the small trek up to the top of Mount Eden to take in the awesome sight of Auckland from above.
I guess you could say our hostel is ideal for those guests looking to avoid noisy party hostels but still wanting to have fun and meet people from other cultures around the world. Most of our guests are aged between 20-35 but we also commonly have backpackers of 40+ staying with us.- Steve, Manager

Staff great and so lovely, so homely and spotless there. Room was lovely and great shower. bus right oustide the hostel. And we got a complimentary internet, which we lost and hotel manager replaced it!
