We stayed in the double room with ensuite bathroom, and found the room excellent. It was great to have a water kettle and a fridge in the room.

It has everything a backpacker should have, the kitchen is large and clean, sufficient fridge space. Dawn is very helpful. The double ensuite we stayed is new and clean, the bed is a little small. Bus in front, 15 mins ride to CBD at $1.8. Nearby Mt Eden is ok to see although cannot compare to the volcanos & craters in Rotorua & Tongariro. Dominion Road (CountDown Supermarket on it) has plenty cheap but yummy Chinese places.

Best thing was how quiet it was and got a great nights sleep. No rowdy people or traffic noise.

I thought the % rating I would give for this place would be better but I double-checked my ratings and I guess it's 77%... It's a very nice hostel with excellent common areas. Avg. security because there are no lockers in the rooms and the ones you can use are small in the kitchen (which was just fine for me). The staff is REALLY helpful and friendly and helped me tackle some research stuff - But they are frequently not around/available. And it's in a random residential neighborhood.

Great place to stay when you just arrive in Auckland or when you leave NZ cause is close to airport. The place is very clean (they clean everything every day) and the staff is really amazing. I'm gonna stay there again on my way home.

Dawn was the nucleus of all that was good about Bamber House. She made us feel welcome immediately and gave us excellent advice and information. It made our stay in Auckland very smooth, comfortable and inviting. The house location is terrific and was easy to get to other places from.

The hostel was very close to the bus stop but not that handy for the nearest supermarket. The lady on reception was very helpful with lots of info. We were in the separate building & the kitchen could do with a few more cups!!

Very appealing hostel, friendly environment and great for light socialising (particularly good if you're not after a party place but still want to meet people and enjoy the stay), terrific staff and the location is peaceful, pretty and worth a look around on foot.

Great place, friendly reception, very clean. Had a great sleep after the long flight from Richmond, Virginia USA to New Zealand. Bus to downtown right on the corner. Except for some Guy Fawkes celebrations it was quiet.(fun!)
