Bamber house was definitely one of my top hostels ever. I would highly reccommend it for many reasons; it's relaxing, the location is a quiet area but not difficult to get into the city, the staff was extremely helpful (thanks Steve!), and there's also a trampoline! The place was one of the cleanest and most organised hostels I've seen. You will undoubtably enjoy your stay here.

We had a power outage, and the staff told us we can use the kitchen and the TV in the owners house. Thats what we call courteous!

The staff were extremely helpful and willing to help you organise taxis, tours and give direction. Communal spaces are cleaned regularly. Bamber House also provides limited wifi (counted in mbs) and once you've used all of it you have to pay for more. It is close to the city centre, fantastic cafes and a supermarket, however it is difficult to reach outdoor activity areas unless you rent a car. It is a great place for short trips and relaxation.

Loved the hostel, great staff, and nice guests. 200Mb free wifi access when you arrive, which is average for NZ.

This was a great introduction to NZ. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hostel was small, comfortable and quiet. The location was great, very peaceful with Mt Eden on the doorstep and shops around the corner. I would stay at Bamber House again.

I really enjoyed my stay at Bamber House, it was at the end of my trip, so I wasn't pleased about going home but it was a very enjoyable 3 days there. I found the room (6 bed with ensuite detached from the main house) to be very nice with comfortable beds (not horrible bunks) and a useful ensuite. My roomies seemed to be quite nice most of the time. The staff were very helpful and willing to interact with the people and although not in the city it is only 15 mins away by bus.

Mount Eden is a beautiful area to stay in. A bit of a hike into town but there are buses. Mt Eden Village has some nice Cafes. Nice old timber building with original foyer. We actually stayed in some smaller double bed units out the back.

The staff made me feel very welcome - so helpful & always smiling. It's easy to get into the city centre by bus, just outside the house. Would really recommend Bamber House!
