i am a dedicated fan of Bambu. have stayed here for a week at a time several times over the last three yrs. wouldn't stay anywhere else in David. friendly staff. large airy rooms and dorms. beautiful landscaping with pool in back yard. reasonable rates. fine place to meet people of all ages from around the world. approx. 5 blocks from public market, large supermarket, and many restaurants and other types of stores. bus stop 2 blocks. cabs are cheap. come on over and have a great time.

The pool was not very clean. The hot water heater in room was not working and when the staff was notified about it, they did not get it repaired.

Their website states they have free lockers, but they only have 3 for the whole hostel, so there were none available for us to use. I felt that my belongings were very insecure. The kitchen was okay, but the fridge was disgusting and we had to throw the food out that we had stored there. The beds were plastic cots, that went completely flat when laid upon. It was a bad experience all around, we left a night early.

Bambu hostel is by far the best hostel in David. Met a lot of other interesting travelers there. There's a restaurant right across the street where you can eat great for $3.50, a convenience store at the end of the block, a well stocked 24 hour supermarket 3-4 blocks away. The hammocks under the gazebo are a great place to enjoy a couple of beers, the pool was clean and refreshing, and the jungle hut in the backyard made me feel like I was sleeping in the treehouse of my childhood dreams!

Nice laid back place. Easily could have stayed a few more days. Everything you need is close by supermarket and taxis are cheap and don't try to rip you off too much. They have a nice little pool in the back.

It was great to be greeted by an English speaking hostess. It's a bit out of the way, but the cab rides are very inexpensive. We had a leaky toilet and they attempted to fix it the next morning. It was noisy until late due to conversations on the patio, loud cars on the streets and barking dogs. It got noisy early in the morning with crowing roosters and barking dogs. The staff were helpful with travel tips. We were unable to cash any travelers cheques in David or in all of Panama!

We arrived by car & were immediately ushered into the gated secure area where our SUV was parked anytime we were not out in it. Thorin greeted us & our room was waiting. It wasn't the Hilton, but it was clean & well worth the cost. All facilities were nice, the kitchen good, the pool great, the laundry service very nice & the internet connection was always available & working. We can't give enough praise to the staff, they were always available & eager to assist with any request. Tom Beard

When I arrived in the late afternoon, the electricity was out and the manager was waiting to hear from the electric company. About dark, there came a tremendous thunderstorm, huge downpour and blinding lightning flashes accompanied by thunder that shook the floor of the WONDERFUL bamboo house on stilts. One lightning crash nearby took out all the electical power in the whole neighborhood. BUT, when the other houses' light came on, so did ours! Perfect Bamboo cottage/ friends! I'll repeat visit!
