I stayed here at the beginning of my trip and it was terrible. I travelled through durban again and some other travellers had mentioned how nice it now was. I was sceptical but really nicely suprised. this was probably the nicest stay of my whole trip. the location and security were never in doubt but this time the staff were great. friendly helpful and authentic.great mix of travellers comfortable beds and fresh white linnen changed everyday.the rooms all had a balcony. fast internet.

Disgusting. Prison cell rooms in a building that looked like a British council estate. Cockroaches EVERYWHERE. When we complained about the 8 we saw in our tiny room we were given a bug spray, which then choked us because the room was tiny. Moved to a dorm and had to pay more than the going rate?! The area was industrial and ugly, yes it is close to bars and restaurants but these are for local people and its not safe for tourists to do the 5 minutes walk (the staff insisted we take a taxi) Awful

Staff wasnt too friendly (except for Aki), but main issue is the serious cockroach infestation. Especially in the kitchen.

This hostel was dirty to the point where it is a health hazard. There are cockroaches everywhere and the bathrooms are a disaster. The kitchen should not be used at all, and the building is in disrepair. The hostel is also located in a bad part of the city, right next door to an escort service. I am a very laid back traveller with experience in the third world, but would not recommend this hostel to anyone.

Don't stay if you have another option, I stayed despite the reviews only because I left it to the last minute. The area is dodgy, the staff weren't helpful at all, it was dirty & there were cockroaches everywhere. i had booked for 2 nights but only stayed for one - I didn't even care I lost money in the end as it was a relief to be gone.

This Hostel is really horrible. mI was in the kitchen and saw a rat jumping in the cupboard and a little bug was running over the surfaces. The bathroom was ok. Me and a friend of mine had a twin room and it smelt really bad. The people which work there are ok and they try to help you whereever they can. But all in all i would never ever again book this hostel again.

The Hostel itself is very nice and in a quite good loacation about 10 min walk to the beach. But a bit more of a clean-up and some restauration as well wouldn't be to bad. I can't understand why they leave such a nice building in poor condition like this.
