Excellent hostel, had a great time. The free tours are the best! You don't need to hire a car at all, these guys will take you to all the best places on the island. And the tour guides/staff were really friendly, chilled out awesome guys. Also don't let the 10pm sound curfew fool you, this is a serious party hostel.

Great hostel for the value! Great people and staff. The tours they offer for (you tip, almost) free are fantastic.

I was very disappointed in the pricing at this hostel. I called in advance to make sure I and my partner would just pay the 52 $ for us both,

"Free "tours are great! Had a good time, young energetic group. International guests, beautiful women, friendly atmosphere. Party time!

Terrible location, but it's all good because the free tours and great atmosphere make things ok. This is a quiet enough hostel if you want it to be, and quite the party hostel if you want that too. A very cool lounge/common area. Did I mention the free tours!? You have to tip your guide, but that's totally worth it if you are doing Maui without a car.

I had a great time! The daily free tours make up for the location. Although, the waterfall in walking distance is a little treat! The best hostel I have ever stayed at!

Don't watch on the rating, this hostel is about the atmosphere, the people and above all the great free (except the tip) tours! I had the best time there!

Great hostel. Fun and great tours. Just gotta make sure you sign up early for them. I wish they had the schedule of the tours online so people could plan when to go in case they have something specific they want to do. The Haleakala tour is on Saturday and I didn't know. Had unknown I would've arrived earlier. But it's very clean and fun. Definitely recommend it. You'll meet a lot of people and the lot he. Is big enough for many ppl to cook.

the hostel was okay, rooms are fine, quite hot and sticky. the bathrooms are very dirty and also the rooms were always sandy tours were great but "just" 20 seats in the cars and all other guests can not go. atmosphere good, but without a car your lost. lahaina is almost 2 hours away by bus.

Good place to stay for a hostel providing all that was necessary, good bed, showers and safety. Kitchen was good with alot of resource. Tour feature was good :) really enjoyed it. Wish we could have gone on the tour on the day we had to check out too. Only negative would be that room we were in could get noisy late at night, but expected in a social hostel. Location wad a bit out of way but easy to catch bus or drive to.

Party hostel. Staff is very friendly, but the place is quite messy...Good if you want to meet people, and stay up till late at night. I wouldn't recommend it if you're planning to relax.

Awesome hostel! Would highly recommend... Downfall was it is like a Half hour walk to Kahului but the staff was awesome and had a amazing vibe to the hostel. If you are there few the tours to it pays for the stay in the free tours.

Big plus are the tours organized by the hostel staff, they are really great! Minus are the bathroom facilities on the basement (there are only two bathrooms with 5 showers for 11 rooms with up to 4 persons, especially after coming back from the tours it is really hard to get a shower) and the fact that women's dorms are not exclusively for women (I booked a women's dorm, but had to share with guys, too)

The hostel is really cool, the best thing about it are the daily tours that allow the travelers to see the whole island, without renting a car. And they're so much fun! The staff was great, friendly and really helpful with anything. The only maybe negative thing was the location. You could walk to the town center or supermarket, but if you want to explore the island by yourself, you really need a car. But this is not so much the fault of the hostel..

#1 Beware of rooms facing the street, it's incredibly noisy ALL night long w/vehicle traffic! Room was too hot to consider closing the window. I think either install AC in street-facing rooms or at least provide free ear plugs so guests could sleep... #2 We booked a 3-bed pvt room (#27), but found it furnished w/2 twin beds

Great atmosphere. When I was there, they were having a keg party every Friday night, and host tours around the island every day. We ended up spending more time on the other side of the island (more touristy/developed), but this is a great little hostel to meet people from all over the world, and join some walking tours. You could show up with literally no knowledge of Maui, and have a great time with the folks who are staying there. Pluses: WiFi, Computers, pool table, hammock, hot tub,

Extremely upset the kept my $10 key deposit. I returned my key. There were extenuating circumstances but that was just criminal. Very upset about that. It was such a petty thing to do.

The Banana Bungalow is a very good hostel. I loved staying there, even though it's a bit far away from the beach or any shopping area. The Banana Bungalow offers great free tours everyday, but the guide wouldn't mind getting a tip. It's a great place to get to know people from all around the world, while having the time of you life.
