AWESOME hostel! People = amazing, Day trips = unforgettable, Atmosphere = perfect. This is by far one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in and I have it to thank for an incredible couple of days in Maui!

I really liked the staff at this hostel, but the location is extraordinarily isolated. This hostel is on a very busy road with noisy trucks so tough to sleep. The Maui bus to all of the island's beautiful beaches, from this hostel, takes literally hours. It would be more efficient to stay at a Lahaina hostel, two minutes walk to everything. I went snorkelling and it took three hours in transit standing on busy highways. It has long term residents yet this can make newcomers feel left out.

Far too much smoking! Some of the staff were cranky, too. The other staffers generally made up for them, though.

Hostel was nice as were the staff but the vibe was off, especially for Maui. This was due to the guests it attracts to be fair, I only stopped for 2 nights in the end as the atmosphere was clique-like and it seemed to be full of guys looking for girls. I got the impression they saw me as 'competition' and therefore gave me the cold shoulder. Not the easiest place to hang. A few friendly faces but they seemed to get the same treatment. A bit disappointing but maybe I was just unlucky

Banana Bungalow is a unique place to stay for travelers who enjoy meeting interesting people and learning about local gems of places, history, and culture on Maui. The excursions are fantastic, and the guides are fun & full of information. I had a wonderful time!

The rooms are small but very clean, the staff is super nice, the tours are great and the hot tub is a highlight!!! Not near the beach and also not much going on outside of the hostel. A backpacker which has many german speaking travellers. The tours are free but you have to give tip between 5-10 Dollars. Great place if you want to see a lot of the island without renting a car. Sunday-Tour is a must!!! :-)

What a great place to stay on Maui! There was nothing I missed during my one-week-stay, just had the time of my life! The free daily tours make it possible to explore the whole island without renting a car and the people you meet at the Banana Bungalow are just gorgeous! Staff and tour guides are greatly motivated and always willing to help. The unique atmosphere makes your stay even more fun! I wish I could've stayed longer, thanks to everyone for making my Maui-stay unforgettable!

Great hostel with awesome staff. Very friendly atmosphere. And the tours what they are arranging are very fun and the guides are also very cool people. I definitely recommend this hostel to everybody who is coming to Maui. Lots of fun every day and night!

Fantastic hostel. Great vibe. Amazing staff. Rooms are smallish but you hardly spend any time in them. Great common area for meeting new people. Free tours around the island everyday (they work for tips). Definitely one of my favourite hostels in Hawaii.

I had the worst experience at this hostel. I was tricked by the reviews from the website and did not feel safe at this location. Little did I know there would be crushed up sea shells on the beds to keep the bugs away. And who wants to take a shower when it looks as if there were STD's on the walls. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to enjoy Hawaii. The location was awful and not near anything remotely interesting for young people. Chose wisely.

GREAT time in Banana Bungalow, most over because of it's incredible free trips! TOTALLY WORTHY! The hotel is OK... is a lil bit expensive... but MAUI is so I don't think you could find something cheaper... The worst thing is the location... the area in which is located has NOTHING to offer... (no restaurants, no cafes.. no nothing..)
