Awesome hostel when it comes to service, among all the places I have been this hostel have given us the very best personalized service starting from the moment we check-in. If you are the kind who have come to Chiang mai with zero itinerary and no plans, they will brief you through accompanied with a colorful guide and map on the best places to go and awesome food to try.. Thumbs up to the team at Banilah!
If the employee be much more patient,it will be great! Good choice

Very kind and nice Staff! She gave me the local map and explained many local places to go. Cats are lovely. Room was clean and cheap. Very resonable. But if you are sensitive about bathroom condition, it would be a little bit problem with you. Except bathroom condition, everything was cool. And taxi driver knew the hostel name, so you can easly find this hostel.
Perfect place, perfect staff. Had a wonderful stay. Thank you very much!
my boyfriend and I had an awesome stay at Banilah! The staff is very kind, they gave us lot of information about what to do in Chiang Mai and surroundings, the room was clean, and the hostel well located. Definitely we recommend it!
Great stuff and general feel but a little far from the main tourist area
We spent 3 nights at Banilah and we felt simply wonderful. The tasteful garden, the bitter sweet and very particular scent of the traditionally decorated room... awesome! But what charmed us the most was perhaps the host- Ob, a precious and efficient source of information that offered us the best advice about what to do in Chang Mai during our stay. Banilah is, as we think, an unique place to which it would always be a pleasure to return.
Great if you are looking for a bit more upmarket stay while in Chaing Mai. Good location close to laundry, bike hire, the old town and many food options. The ladies who run it give you a great run down of Chaing Mai and surrounds (including maps) which is super useful. 'Café cat' at the front does good coffee and you can hang out with one if their many friendly cats.
Not far away from the main attraction in a very conventient area with many restaurants/stalls to eat and everything you need around. The staff was gorgeous, helped me with everything and explained the area very detailed with their own useful map. The rooms were nice and cleaned everyday. Unfortunately the guest house is right at a busy street and the sound isolation is poor, hence a bad grade in atmosphere because of loud noise until late. At night they have their own security guard patrolling!
This is a bargain for the price you pay. Wonderful owners and staff who will go out of their way to help you. Clean and comfortable rooms.
The girls are lovely and it's a great place to stay! Only downside is if you want to walk anywhere...to get into the centre, it's a hairy walk with no pedestrian path and then you have to cross 4 lanes of traffic with no pedestrian lights, not so good feeling as though you have to risk your life if you want to walk to town. Otherwise...it was a lovely area and a lovely stay!
thank you very much for let us stay with us and all the usfull tips you gave us about where to eat and thai massages etc. we really appreciated it and will certainly come back one day. chantal and philippe, switzerland
I really enjoyed my stay here. The two ladies running the place are really friendly and caring. The neighbourhood has plenty of great food options and is not far from the old city. Thank you!
Comfortable, clean and freshly renovated, fairly pretty common areas. Not in the most convenient location if you're new to Chiang Mai/Thailand but gives you a chance to try out some of the local street food (as opposed to the more common night, tourist heavy night market options). I don't understand why they don't just have normal doors - the padlocks are a bit weird - but ultimately doesn't matter because a door is a door. The receptionist was incredibly thorough in her advice when I checked in
The best hostel of the trip! The staff waas just amazing, no words to discrebe how great they were, they do everything to make your stay even more enjoyable. The beds has mosquito nets to prevent then, fresh towels and bottles of water everyday. Definetly recommend it!
Great guesthouse! The two women who own the place are absolutely lovely, they provided us with a map and pointed out dozens of places to eat, shop and sightsee which was incredibly helpful for first-timers to Chiang Mai. The only issues with the guesthouse itself were that the bed was quite hard by western standards and also the walls were quite thin, but not so thin you couldn't sleep. The location isn't the best but a short tuk-tuk ride into town and the surrounding area is local and friendly.
Very nice and helpful staff, yet quite basic rooms. Good value for money!
Staff are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The room has cold AC and a fan, 2 bottles of water are provided everyday. A moped rental place is located next door which makes navigating the city really easy and fast, and 250 bhat per day isn't bad at all.
Pretty good hostel, not too far from the city center and you can rent mopeds right next door. Staff are very friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond for us. Left them the key to our mopeds because we had to leave for a tour early in the morning, upon arriving back from our tour they returned to us our moped deposits hassle free. Also offered to hold our bags while we explored the city on our last day with a late flight.
