I had a most excellent stay at the Bar Harbor Hostel. It was end of the season (for the town, the park, the hostel, just about everyone) so Bar Harbor itself was pretty quiet. But I still got to enjoy everything being open without the crowds. Jeff (the keeper of the hostel), keeps the place very clean, and is uber friendly. We like the hostel in general, very quiet and homely. Think it is because we came in the off-peak season when the crowd has gone. We enjoyed our stay despite that rubbish bins were not cleared throughout our 3 days of stay.We like the hostel in general, very quiet and homely. I've stayed here in the past and was happy to return and find that they no longer have a lock-out period or curfew. The location is great, close to town/hiking and practically next door to the Sun. farmers mkt. The only thing that was less than pleasant was being woken up by the staff after 1AM after they loudly returned from a night out. I am no party pooper, just a fan of sound sleep. Great customer service. The hostel called the morning that I was scheduled to arrive.
