I've stayed here before and it's just a pleasant as always. But this time, there was a new staff member at night who didn't speak Spanish. I found this frustrating because I needed to order a taxi and he seriously suggested we type the words into google translate and hold the phone to the computer to have the translation read aloud... Thankfully, I know some Spanish so I ended up just using the hostels phone to call... I think he needs some more training... But other staff are excellent.

A great place to spend a night or two while traveling in Spain. The staff had great recommendations about where to eat in Madrid. Security was fine and all the guests were friendly. There is also free wi-fi and a computer for guests to use in the lounge. A great deal for such a cheap price.

The location is quite good but may be a little bit hard to find the hotel for the first time.

The room and bathroom were not very clean, breakfast is ok and location is good, nearby Puerta del Sol. It doesn't have a hostel atmosphere and there's a little girl who lives there and screams all the time!

Awesome experience during my short stay at Barbieri Sol Hostel. The staff was very courteous and gentle with me, taking care of my curiosity . The environment was really cozy and I found the rooms and the kitchen clean enough . Last but not least, I m very happy with the excellent quality- price ratio (Its a real bargain by comparison with other hostels of the area) . I´ll be back soon, I m pretty sure about that.

The staff was exceptionally helpful and always there to help give their opinion or give us detailed descriptions. If they did not know an answer, they made sure to look it up for us and give us an answer to the best of their knowledge.

We had a very bad experience. The woman in charge had her little daughter in the hostal who was allowed to run at will throughout the place yelling and screaming and crawling on us while we tried to eat. We were awaken at 2 am by pounding on the hostal door by a guest who couldn't get in because the woman was asleep and couldn't be found. We got up and let them in. In short I think a refund is in order.

The welcome we received was amazing, and the lady working most days during our stay is a real credit to the Hostel, and her daughter is a little ray of sunshine to the place. During my Birthday, my group were loud at times but the staff were very patient with us and when I spoke to the guy working he was very understanding and gave me more than enough time to shut my friends up & take them to town to party. I now consider this place my new favourite Hostel in all of Madrid. Stuart Price

The location of the hostel is great, just a minute walk from Puerta Del Sol. Since the hostel is on the second floor of a bigger building, it's not easy to find. And due to lack of an elevator, you have to carry your luggage up the stairs. We stayed in a funny little room for 2, the bath was actually in the room and the toilet was only separated form the bed by a mirror. This room was adjacent to the kitchen and the reception desk. This is not ideal if you would want to sleep after 7.30.

While this hostal is located in a good area, it lacks a little in some points: - The breakfast is very basic, with toast and croissants just presented in the plastic packaging. - The electric installation didn't look too good with quite some extension cords throughout the place - The sliding windows in my room didn't close, only one of the two could be latched. For the price you shouldn't expect too much, but these are very basic points that should be better.

Loved the hostel! Great location. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We paid for a mixed room and got a two person suite with a shower in our room, and didn't even have to pay more. Our room was cleaned everyday and they even folded our clothes for us! One suggestion: It was a little hard to find the hostel. On your page and on the confirmation page, maybe give more specific directions as to getting to the hostel from the Sol metro stop.

The bed sheets was dirty, with hairs of woman, the bathroom has a jacuzi without the cap/lid (dont know how to say in english, sorry), the pillow was the worst thing I've ever putted my head in all my life, the daughter of the manager of the hostel was screaming for all day long and disturbing the guests, inside the jacuzi was dirty, with pieces of soap of the last guest who was there, the bathroom was full mouldy, there was JUST ONE eletric socket that was working (in a bedroom for 4 people)

The complimentary breakfast was great and the location was also very nice. However, the woman running the front desk has a daughter that runs around screaming most of the time which can be very upsetting. The room also had it's own bathroom facilities which was unexpected as I anticipated sharing, but the toilet was literally in the room's only closet which made it cramped and dark. Overall, had a pleasant stay.

Not highly enjoy my stay here. The room is extremely small. though there is a toliet in the room, but also small and shaky. Most of time we have to stay in the common area. The air is not fresh at all, it is a disaster when the roommate happened to have a very disgusting smell. The direction is very ambiguious and tooooo difficult to find. We got lost for the first couple of times. The staff is nice neverytheless, but don´t recommend even though it is cheap.
