We stayed here for 1 night. Room was a bit cold. Shower was nice and warm. Staff told us to skip Lijang and Dali, because we had been to Tibet. Luckily we did not follow this groundless advice. Location was good.

Great hostel with very friendly staff and well located on the edge the old town. Lovely courtyard in the middle and very relaxed.

Stayed 2 nights. Place is very interesting with a lot of local flavor. Location is great- in the Old Town area but in a small alley so not too noisy. Staff is very helpful. Clean place but the water pressure was quiet low for the shower.

The location was excellent. It's in the center of old Shangri-La. A few minutes walk to super market and shopping area. There're a lot of big mosquitoes in our room and in the water bucket. Especially in the bucket, it's quite dirty and had greeny moss and mosquito larva like no one cared about it. If the staff could make a room & toilet cleaner would be wonderful.

It is not air tight from the outside elements so at 3300 meters elevation it can get rather chilly at night.

Barley was in a good location and very clean but it was very hard communicating with the staff. Not much English spoken/understood. Liked the electric heating pads and the shower was steaming hot (even though there wasn't much pressure)! Go to Kevin's Trekker Guest House for help planning day trips, etc. Luckily we had friends staying there who planned things for us.

The hostel was lovely, clean, friendly and warm! We stayed in a twin room which was bright and comfy, with great big quilts! Kitchen service is good and reasonably priced and staff couldnt do more to help with directions, trips and general tips - there is always somebody around! Located right next to Square Street - RIGHT NEXT TO!!! Only down-side might be the bathroom which didnt always have hot hot hot water or an available shower. However hostel makes up for this in character and charm! :D

In Room #10, the bed by the door was too hard. I couldn't sleep for the whole night, while the other bed that my friend slept on was softer. He slept well without a problem. I decided to choose other hotel as I am not sure I would get a hard bed again. Staff and owners are very friendly and helpful though.
