My stay was easy, convenient, fun and exciting. The location is great if you want to go out to bars and the easygoing environment of the hostel is perfect for meeting people to go out with. If you don't want to be surrounded by bars it is not ideal, but it is perfect for a fun dublin experience. Beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable, noise levels were a little high but definitely tolerable. It was definitely a great value.

An excellent value hostel in the heart of Temple Bar with nearby bus connections to the airport. Ensuite rooms with shower and decent beds plus average breakfast (toast, butter, jam, tea, coffee, juice) for a great price. Noisy in the streets at night, and again in the morning when the barrels of Guiness are being rolled up the cobbled streets (!) so not the best option if sleep is required. Otherwise fine with very helpful reception staff.

Central location, about a 15-minute walk from the bus station (which is a good thing!) - perfect for anyone interested in the bar scene, but also good location as it is less than a 10 minute walk to most touristy things in Dublin. It was a bit noisy at night as our window was looking out over Temple Bar, but this was expected and ear plugs sufficed. Typical hostel-style breakfast, no frills. Shower was decent.

Everything seemed clean and I enjoyed having a bathroom right in my 6 bedroom room. Location is great as you couldn't possibly be any closer to the Temple Bar area.

Our 10 person room was incredibly tiny. It was basically a sardine can and they had one bathroom (one shower, sink and toilet) for 10 people. So if someone wanted to shower or use the restroom and someone was brushing their teeth you had to wait. It also smelled like foot and sweat in our room.

Fantastic location with a great staff! I was impressed by how welcoming the building is. My only issue was that WiFi was only available in the common areas, not in the rooms.

Got a 6 person room when I booked a 4 person, caused confusion. Recieved email saying it would cost 70 euro so had to ring and confirm that I only had to pay for a 4 person which caused a lot of stress and cost me money on my phone. when i arrived staff still tried to charge me for a 6 person room, until I explained the situation.

During my eight-night tour of Dublin I stayed in a total of four hostels, and Barnacles was by far the best! The location was excellent- right in the city center- and the hostel itself was clearly marked and easy to find. Both the staff and travelers in the hostel were very friendly and willing to help or chat. It was a little noisy, but that's to be expected in any touristy/downtown area.

All positive about hostel-as I have rated above The only thing is Wi-fi is slow, perhaps a new non-stick pan or iron kitchen frying pan - chef kitchen standard,

Location can't be beat and the staff was friendly enough. However, all the lights in my 6-person shared room stopped working my second (of 4) days, including the bathroom. The room was annoying enough, but showering with nothing but a phone light is a struggle. One of the men in my room notified the staff of this issue and got a reply that they're "working on it" but by the time I left it still hadnt been fixed. At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Stayed here for a night and had a great time. The hostel is situated right next to Temple Bar which makes it convenient for going out, but the noise from all the pubs can be easily heard from your room...so it perhaps isn't the place to stay if you're sensitive to noise. The staff were more than willing to help guide me around the city and there's always someone at the front desk preventing randoms from the nearby bars from stumbling in.

Just an average hostel. Don't expect too much of it. Make the best out of your visit to Dublin by meeting friendly fellow travellers.
