The hostel is really nice, really good atmosphere and the location is perfect! The only bad thing is that the water for the shower is not very warm.

Hi Lena, REALLY SORRY about this. We will keep an eye on it and adjust the temperature. I think with the cold weather people are taking extra long hot showers to get nice and cosy after being out and about for the day. All the best, Da' Crew

Great hostel, great location......but cold showers :(

Hey Ben, Apologies for the cold shower. Sometimes at peak hours this can be the case but generally we have plenty of hot water for all. Sorry about that, but hey, I bet you woke up quick enough?? cheers for the kind words and we will keep a close eye on the wwater... The Crew

Barnacles was like the Empire Records of hostels. This place was so cool, and right in the heart of Temple Bar! The rooms and bathrooms were both very clean and comfortable. I can't say enough good things about it! This was the first time anyone in my group had stayed at a hostel, and the staff made us feel perfectly at ease.

Think about making an option for earlier check-in. My flight got in at 5:30am, and I was unable to check in until 2:30p. Whiit worked out just fine, and earlier option would've been great (even if you have to pay a euro or two extra)

Hi there, Often we can accommodate this if the rooms have not been used the night before. However as check out is 10.30, we need the time to clean the rooms. Whenever we can we will help. Most people are only getting into their beds at 5.30am, still getting 5 good comfy hours sleep. Delighted you had a good time Waters.. All the best, The Crew

I really enjoyed my time at Barnacles in Temple Bar. You cannot beat the location and although it might be a bit more money than other hostels in Dublin, it was really clean and I never felt like I wasn't safe or like my stuff was in danger of being taken. A few of the latches on the cages under the bunks (to lock your belongings) were broken, but most people were with friends and just kept them all in one. Also be sure to check out Pablo Picantes nearby for amazing burritos.

We had a double room very close to the kitchen, the smell and the noise were not negligible. More the heating system didn't work very well

This hostel was awesome and their staff were overwhelmingly nice/friendly/accommodating, the list of positive adjectives could go on forever. I was in some pretty dire straits on St. Patrick's Day as I didn't have a place to stay and they really set me up, something for which I will be forever grateful. In particular, Thomas at the front desk really did everything he could to help me out, was SUPER accommodating as well as great company.

We booked two double rooms for 4 people last minute. Price was fair, rooms were clean, and it wasn't what I expected at all (I expected much worse: it really exceeded my expectations!) All staff were friendly, but some not quite as helpful as others. I Would DEFINITELY stay here again.

This was my first ever hostel experience and I was nervous before arriving, but as soon as I got there the staff made me feel comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble, they always started conversation with you too :-) clean facilities, lovely common room and great kitchen. Made loads of friends here and 100% plan on coming back. Could not recommend it more! You guys (sham)rock!

Extremely impressed with the helpful and patient staff, especially as it was Paddy's night! They were superb, friendly, helpful and fun! Breakfast was ok, would have been nice if they had gone to a bit more effort the next day as we had all paid €50 for one night in a dorm (as it was paddys night), i understand you may hay while the sun shines and all that but a few croissants wouldn't have gone astray! Apart from that all was great, the bed was comfy enough, was fairly quiet considering!

The location is AWESOME, and the staff are great too. But you can only use the common room (internet and stuff) until midnight. It's a really quiet and not-in-the-party-mood hostel, even though is in the middle of Temple Bar.

The room we first got was really cold and the window could not be closed. The helpful girl in the reception helped us to try and close the window and then swich rooms when it could not be done. It was a really busy night and she was working alone, and still took her time to help everyone as best she could. The breakfast was really not good, but the room was really cheap so no luxery was expected. :-)

1st visit to Ireland so 1st to Dublin. 2 nights not enough but be the location of the hostel made up for that. Temple Bar is a nice area to start orientating in this very friendly capital of Irelan. The hostel has got lots of information about what to do for any lengths of stay which is great. And 1st time staying in a hostel on my own was a great experience. Spend an evening at the famous Temple Bar pub with 2 room mates which is only 2 buildings away in the same street!

Great hostel. Perfect location, great atmosphere. Would go back and advise. Only bémol would be that there's no wireless in the room. I hear it's the hotel policy to get people to come to the living room to connect, which I guess is understandable. Still, I would have liked to be able to check at times something quick on my cell phone without having to get up from my bed.
