It was my second time to stay at Barocco Hostel. I liked it the first time, I enjoyed it even more the second time I came back. The location is perfect. It is walking distance to most of the interesting sights of Budapest. There is a grocery and market nearby. And the staff is very helpful, especially Tamas. He told us of the best places to eat, drink beer and hang out. Challenge him to a game of chess!

This hostel was empty when I stayed, so it lacked character. The staff were lovely, always asking how your day was, and security was great. But in peak periods there wouldn't have been enough showers and toilets. Walls are pretty thin and noise carried at night. Not bad, but I have stayed in a better hostel in Budapest before. I think in Summer when it was full, it would be better.

Probably the nicest staff of all Hungarian Hostels! If you want to have a good time in Budapest I really recommend this place. It perfectly located next to tram, bus and metro stop. Tesco is just 2 mins by food

Hostel is really well located close to the city center, 5 min to metro, 2 min from Kiraly Street, full of restaurants and bars. rooms are clean and your are given clean bed clothes once you arrive; very good kicthen w/ everything you need; clean bathrooms; great wifi. They hav a really cozy living room w/ a flat screen TV, lots of movies if you want to chill, it's also a good spot to hang out with the staff and learn more about Hungary and of course talk to other travelers and share experiences

Staff? What staff? We literally couldn't tell the difference between the guests and the supposed staff, who were usually sleeping on the couch or just hanging out drinking beer. This made Barocco a fun place to stay with a relaxed atmosphere, but if you're looking for professionalism at all or any helpful reception whatsoever, look elsewhere. Also, only two bathrooms for the whole place so I was almost peeing my pants every morning.

It is pricey given the facilities, but the staff are friendly and sitting and watching a couple of movies was exactly what I needed to recharge.
